RE: Money alone does not bring happiness...

I see money as a magnifying tool. Whatever you are without money, you'll be even more of that with it. Money itself doesn't do anything, but people can do remarkable things using money as a catalyst. It is also through the pursuit of gaining money that societies can see exponential progress. Suppression of personal gain of money causes digression. Hope of possibilities for what imagination foresees can happen due to abundance of money can increase happiness.

But chasing money is in vain... because money is not born out of nothing...

Yes and no. Money is a physical (usually) representation of time/energy/talent. When I trade my skills for money, I can then use my skills trapped in the form of currency to give to someone else. Granted their time/energy/talent may not be worth as much as mine or it may be worth exponentially more than mine, depending on what we both agree on, so money is born out of energies used with purpose attached. Chasing it can be in vain, but it can also be for the betterment of the one chasing. For instance, if I have a child who is dying from a serious illness that is curable and to get the cure, I need money, it is not vain to chase after it; however, if the pursuit of money is simply to add commas to my bank account, its purpose is diminished...though, I do try to add more commas to my account so that my children's lives will be better and cause generational change...it's all in the eye of the beholder.
