Liverpool Pegged Back.

What a game this was because I expected Liverpool to win this game but their struggles against Brighton continues as they were pegged back after being up by 2 goals.

Liverpool missed the chance to temporarily go on top after half time stalemate in the other game from Chelsea and Newcastle but Brighton showed character to draw the game level and they could have won it too.

Henderson and Mane gave Liverpool the 2 goal cushion before Mwepu and Trossard made Liverpool leave Anfield with a point rather than 3 points.

From the get-go it proved that it would be a tight affair and Liverpool moved from almost going behind in the 3rd minute after March beat the offside trap to go one on one with the goalkeeper, Liverpool recovered nicely after Alisson saved them from that scare to take the lead in the 4th minute.

Virgil Van Dijk's long ball found Salah on the edge of the box and in his usual self, he cut inside but this time around he laid the pass for the on-rushing Henderson who powered home his strike to give Liverpool the lead.

Alisson produced another save in the 15th minute after Yves Bissouma produced a long-range strike which the goalkeeper had to stretch to keep out. The shocking moment came for Liverpool just a minute after when Salah perfectly found Firmino right inside the box and he blasted his effort way over the bar with the goal at his mercy after the goalkeeper already raced off his line.

Liverpool doubled their lead in the 24th minute after a perfectly executed delivery into the box by Oxlade-Chamberlain found Mane who headed the ball into the back of the net. 10 minutes after, Mane thought he got his 2nd and Liverpool's third when he closed down on the goalkeeper and the ball game off his body into the back of the net but after VAR check, the goal was ruled off for handball.

Brighton made sure they won't go without a response and they responded sensationally in the 41st minute after Mwepu produced a brilliant curling effort that found the back of the net after he was picked out miles away from the box. His strike was similar to Fernandes against Everton and also Tielemans against Manchester United earlier in the season. What a strike from the Malian to half the deficit and give his side a fighting chance.

Liverpool thought they had the third goal yet again in the 47th minute after Mane played Salah in and he rounded the goalkeeper to slot the ball into the back of the empty net. Salah thought he had gotten his 16th goal of the campaign but he was ruled for offside.

Lallana would have broken the heart of his former employer in the 49th minute after he latched on to the ball when he was played in but his shot lacked direction as the goalkeeper saved easily with his feet. Finally, Liverpool were pegged back in the 66th minute after Trossard was found inside the box. He maintained his composure as he beat his marker to smash home his shot. What a comeback from Brighton after being 2 goals down. They kept threatening Liverpool and in the 68th minute, Cucurella had a shot at the edge of the box saved by Alisson.

Brighton lived in a fairytale for a minute after Trossard rolled the ball into the back of the net in the 75th minute after he was picked out inside the box and he rounded up Alisson with perfection only for the linesman to flag him for offside. What a comeback that would have been against Liverpool.

The game ended 2-2 and it is 3 points lost for Liverpool rather than a point gained especially with Chelsea winning against Newcastle United.

Thank you for your time.

It happens and that's football... They slacked off maybe due to overconfidence of how they easily dispatched Manchester United.
