Brunson vs Till is an extremely interesting fight

Tomorrow's UFC main event looks to be really interesting to me! I can't wait to see it! It's a middleweight matchup with some pretty solid title implications overall I would say. #5 ranked middleweight Derek Brunson versus #7 ranked middleweight Darren Till. This fight is interesting to me on pretty much every level.

I don't even know where to begin.

First of all, I am a fan of both fighters. They are good fighters with good fight styles. Whenever Till or Brunson fight, it's usually a good fight in my opinion. Now they're set to face off against each other.

Derek Brunson

I have been watching MMA overall awhile, but I've been following it closely for about 6-7 years-ish. I really respect Brunson's career. He has been in the UFC since 2012, and has won a lot of fights! Honestly, he is a high level fighter especially at this current moment with his momentum and his experience and apparent focused mindset.

He has losses, as most guys do. Several of those losses were pretty devastating as well. BUT six of his seven losses have been against MMA Legends. The other was a split decision against a dude I don't think I've ever heard of back in 2012.

Six of Brunson's seven losses are against:

  • Israel Adesanya
  • Ronaldo Souza (lost to him twice)
  • Anderson Silva
  • Robert Whittaker
  • Yoel Romero

All legends or former champs. All Hall of Famers.

Lately, Brunson has won four fights in a row against some really tough opponents. The UFC has been attempting to use Brunson as a way to push younger fighters, but Brunson has been slowing down a lot of hype trains!!

Darren Till

Darren Till is a really interesting and exciting fighter. He is already a star for his fighting style, skill and personality out of the cage. He used to cut down to welterweight but looked like a zombie doing so. He is 1-1 so far at middleweight but I think he should definitely stay at this weight class. Similar to Brunson, you can't really look at the losses Till has and say that he's a bad fighter. He's lost to Woodley, Masvidal, and Whittaker. Overall, you can't say that he's lost to terrible competition whatsoever.

The match-up

This match-up is crazy when I think about it!

Till is more of a striker. Brunson is pretty well rounded but he is not as good of a striker overall as Till, BUT Brunson likely has got a decent grappling advantage.

I believe people may think this is a striker versus grappler fight. Honestly, I believe that could be true, but for some reason the suspense is killing me in that regard!

Lately Brunson has been seeming a lot more focused and improved.Gameplan oriented. Brunson can be a tremendous grappler, because he is. He has been using the grappling in fights more to win. But people also sometimes forget that Brunson hits like a TRUCK. He is no slouch on the feet, he has real good skill and experience there. Lately he's been finding a good balance and displaying good IQ in fights.

Till, has always shown decent fighting IQ and he's still a pretty young guy in the sport. His fight IQ has been improving also. Till is an explosive striker. But his skill is certainly unquestioned, with a good background in Muay Thai. While his power is slightly less potent at middleweight than lightweight, he still has more than respectable power at middleweight. Till is a pretty average grappler, but from what I can tell I have seen a lot of improvements there. No matter where the fight goes, he is definitely scrappy.

I believe this fight could literally go any way, I truly cannot predict this one. Both these guys are hungry and in their prime.

I can see either of them winning by decision. I can see either of them winning by knockout. The only scenario that would be truly surprising is if Till were to submit Brunson, that would be genuinely shocking.

When these guys face off their size and body types, as a whole, are extremely similar. Similar. I will say Brunson looks a shade thicker, and a bit more muscular. I mean you can really tell who is probably the physically stronger man is and that is Brunson. I don't care what anyone says, strength matters when used intelligently.

BUT height, reach, just overall size they are just really eerily similar. Till is not a little middleweight and I imagine he will bulk up well after the weight cut.

Seeing the body type similarities, seeing both men look really confident in their ability to beat each other, man I got goosebumps. This could be an epic fight.

I imagine, throughout an entire fight, Till will have better striking speed and consistent explosiveness. But by a shade. I imagine Brunson will have better grappling, by a shade.

I honestly could not choose who wins this fight. Good luck betters!!! I would be stressing HARD.

Out of the cage, both of these guys are likeable. Good interviews, entertaining guys. Their social media activity is always a laugh.

Till is a real honest dude. Hard not to respect. Funny too.

Brunson is a good guy too, recently after a win he said the world needs to start turning back to religion and more and more traditional values. I seriously respect that.

It will suck to see one of them lose, frankly. I wish they could both get title shots.

But that's the fight game! That's competition. That's the way it goes!

I'll be eagerly awaiting this one tomorrow!!!!!

Brunson hasn't lost for 4 fights, it's gonna be a real test for Till!
I hope his grappling isn't too much, surprisingly Vegas odds are for Till right now, it's gonna be a good fight nonetheless!

I can't believe Brunson lost twice to Jacare, but Jacare lost to "lesser opponents" also, MMA math, am I right?

Yeah man I'm also concerned that the grappling could be too much as well, Brunson is skilled and strong there!

Yeah that's interesting Till is the favorite. I guess someone has to be favored. Or can betting odds be even? I would not bet on this fight man, it would be anxiety central lol.

Yeah, he lost to Jacare twice, but prime Jacare was definitely scary too! Yes MMA math can be silly, but entertaining too lol.

Enjoy the fights, I'm excited!

Paddy Pimblett also makes his debut, there's a lot of hype surrounding him too, should be a nice day of fights!
