Food Sharing #242 - Edomae Sushi @ Town Hall, Australia

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been craving for uni (sea urchin) for a long time so I thought I would go to Edomae Sushi at Regents Place as the last time I was there they had some very fresh uni. I got to the restaurant just before noon so can be the first ones in but when I got there, they didn’t have any in stock for the day. I was pretty disappointed but since I was there, might as well have a meal there as they sushi is highly rated hence why there is always a line there during lunch and inner.

I got my number and was 3rd in line to go in. Just a few minutes before opening, there was already a sea of people wanting to go in for some yummy Japanese food. At 12pm on the dot, staff slowly lead customers inside the sushi train seating. You can get food from the train or order from the menu from the iPad which has a better variety. I ordered a variety of sushi and a side of okra with tuna. The best part is that the prices here are very reasonable for super fresh quality which is why it is so popular 365 days a year. While I was waiting for my food to be made from the special order, I saw some chu toro which is the fatty tuna. How can I pass that up so I had two plates of that while I was waiting. As chu toro is a more pricey item in general, each plate only had 1 piece of the sushi.

Then my side dish came first. The okra mixed with a bit of sesame oil smell so good. Topped with fresh tuna, it was the perfect combination. No long after, my sushi order arrived. I ordered a variety of seafood ranging from special tuna, white fish, scollops and ikura (salmon roe). Seems like a lot but as you eat, the more you want. The tuna in particular was very sweet and I was thinking if I should get another serve but decided to try something else later. All the seafood was super fresh and for a second there I thought I was eating in Japan.

I wasn’t completely food so I ordered a serve of cuttlefish and raw crab brains. People might think its disgusting but in Japan, it is a delicacy and I would visit special stores just to have a crab feast. The cuttlefish was fresh but wasn’t anything to be wow about but the crab was delicious. It was super moisture and creamy, not good for the cholesterol but if you have it once in a while, it is so worth it. The restaurant is pretty small so you don’t hang around for too long after your meal. Service was quick and all the staff was super nice. You cannot book so it is best to in early and get your tickets if you want to try this restaurant.
