Annual Special Art & Activity Pack

Hi Everyone,

Last year, BB M was eligable to claim a Creative Voucher from the NSW government. We have all sorts of vouchers we can claim each year for primary and high school kids and last year, BB M was able to claim his even though he wasn't in kindy but he was enrolled meaning he is eligible to get a head start. The Creative Voucher is $100 each year per student and many people will put it towards their music, dance classes but due to COVID, I decided to order some art supplies for him instead. There are many stores selling special packs for parents to claim these vouchers and I find most of them does not equal the same $100 if you buy them at the shops yourself but I guess it is better than wasting the vouchers since we couldn't go out during lockdown.

Our parcel unfortunately was delayed for many months as the book I chose was a Japanese origami book and they have been waiting for stock. I have chanced it up numerous times but until 2 weeks ago they were still waiting on stock. I had enough waiting so asked them to find a substitute and they found a book on how to fold paper planes which was a good option. So finally we received the pack last week and want to share what $100 has got us. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the quality on some items except for the paper plane book, colour book and Faber Castell pack and pencils, the rest is not that great. What is worse, they have left our some rubbers which should be included.

Let's look at the nicer items first. The paper plan book was pretty interesting. There were all sorts of different ways to make planes and I'm sure BB M would love to make a few of them. Some of them are quiet difficult so probably more suitable for BB E who is a bit older so he get the concept on some of the instructions/pictures. The colouring book is cute which probably keep me interested as it might be a bit too hard for the boys. The Faber Castell pencils and markers are great! We love them and already have them at home, would be good once the old one runs out ...

Now to the bad stuff. The canvas given was blank. On the site, it had a picture on it so the kids can just paint/colour it through. The lead pencils and drawing book were of poor quality. The paint set looked very flimsy which as disappointing. I guess that is the risk of buying these things online and they did say items may change from the picture but I didn't expect that the quality of the replacement was going to be like this. After this order, I probably won't order from this online store again and maybe the voucher on our music lessons or alternatively use it with another store.

The coloring books look a bit complicated to color on. The lines are really thin and looks like there's not much to give colors around it. Honestly, sometimes things like this makes me avoid buying online. Like recently, I saw this cool bag online from the brand I like. I wanted to buy it online but ended up going to one of their physical store. When I spot the bag I wanted, I was quite shock that it was not the same as the picture. It was not a bad quality, just something I didn't expect.
