Knowing When It's Time

When it comes to the matters of self respect, one thing people need to know is when it's time to stop. Unfortunately not a lot of people know that, so they continue until going until every little respect they have is taken away from them, that is when they stop and most times, it's already too late.

I have this friend at the hostel who myself, along with some of my other friends always go to his room to go chill and play video games whenever there's electricity. Amongst the four of us that always go to his room, I go there the least and it's not because I don't always feel like playing video games, but because I feel like it's not right to always be at someone else's room all the time because even though they might not say anything and might even appreciate your presence, a day will come when you get disrespected for it.

And I wasn't wrong because after some time, one of my friends who always frequented the room got upset one day and said he was never going back there and when I asked him why, he had beaten around the bush with his explanation but what I got from what he was saying was that the owner of the room basically disrespected him because he was always going there.

I didn't say anything because I honestly couldn't relate and this was because whenever I go there, I don't get disrespected, instead I get comments like "Thank God you finally decided to visit us today" so it's almost as if he's always happy to see me around and I feel it's because my absence has made my presence very valuable.

The same thing goes for relationships too, a lot of people don't know when it's time to take a break or call it quit. They see all of the signs but they keep on staying back, getting disrespected until one day where them leaving doesn't even make a difference to their partner anymore because their presence to them is no longer valuable.

So you see as humans, we need to know when it's time to show up and when not to. We need to know when it's time to stay and when it's time to leave. Knowing when it's time to do things and also knowing how to balance that time to make sure we're not doing too much on one side is really really important too because it gets to save you from a lot of heartbreaks and embarrassment.

Something like this has happened to me before. I was seeing signs that the guy wanted to break up but was hoping that the relationship could still work out and at the end of the day, it failed. I cried sha

Yeah it happens.. Although some people do get lucky enough to sort out their problems and make the relationship work, but most times it's a lot of work.

Everything is ok within a limit and we need to know the limit of us. So it's good not to cross the limit and it's good for us to make a balance and save our self respect.

Exactly my point brother. Knowing the limits and how to balance it all is key.
