If I Perish I Perish

In Nigeria, whenever you hear someone say the words “If I perish, I perish” just know that they’re about to do some really crazy shit that they most definitely will end up regretting.

Have you ever been in the process of doing something extremely foolish that you know for sure is not a good idea but still do it anyway? That’s the “if I perish, I perish” vibe I’ve been having for some few days now.

For some reason I just can’t seem to shake off this devilish urge in me that has been telling me to go crazy with the money I have in hand and that whatever will happen will happen. In other words, I’m about to go Que sera sera with my cash.

At home, my dad has always taught us to plan ahead. He’s a man who will never get what he doesn’t need unless it’s absolutely necessary especially when we’re down on cash and he has always taught us the same.

He always made sure he tell us the importance of saving every chance he got, he even once held a competition for me and my brothers, the first person to save up to a thousand naira would get a gift from him. Of course my brothers had thought he was bullshitting us but I took it seriously and won. And when my dad handed me a brand new Walkman (that was what the big boys were using back in those days) they all started to regret why they never participated.

Anyways, though the lessons were fun and has really helped me make some really important life decisions, it seems like right now all of that training was for nothing or is about to be thrown out of the window because right now, I’m about to empty my wallet just to make sure I go home with this fried chicken in front of me right now.

I’m sorry pops, but all I can think about now is this fried chicken. So in other words, If I perish, I perish.
