Election Year

It's quickly getting to that time of the year again where people do all sort of things out of greed, actions that always ends up affecting us like a plague for the next four years, sometimes eight years if we are unlucky.

Next year, the biggest election in my country will be held, the presidential election. To some people, this is their best time of the year and it isn't because they enjoy the thrill of the election or the suspense of who our leader for the next four years will be, no. It is their best time of the year because it is when they get to make as much money as possible.

Now some of you might be wondering if maybe there are some kind of market trade or whatever that happens before an election that gives these people money, well there is but it's nothing like what you think. Unfortunately, it's not everyone that cares about a better tomorrow or better country, all what they care about is how much they can take from this criminal politicians in other to help them steal ballot boxes or disrupt the election, all in a bid to make sure that whoever it is that is paying them wins.

I remember I used to have this neighbour at our former neighborhood who only gets new stuff for himself and his family during election year. At first I didn't notice but about a week to the election, that was when I spotted him wearing marching outfits with some of the touts the state government had employed in other to make sure he remained in office no matter what.

When I see things like this, I ask myself if ever Nigeria can be great again. And sadly, I never arrive at a positive answer because there might be hope for a country to survive if its just a few in the government who are corrupt but when the government and its people are both corrupt, then we have a huge problem ahead of us because there just might be no saving Nigeria.

Hello, this issue that you expose usually happens in all countries I say in times of elections not only presidential, also those of governors and mayors according to what they are called in each country ... people who do this to get material things in these times never have prosperity because they only expect to be given ... it is a reality that truth is sad ... so how to move forward.

Greetings

It's sad...and to think that after all the spending and looking good during election period, after the election it goes back to suffering and more suffering..

I wish people can learn their lessons and do what needs to be done.. thinking about the future and how great this country can be...
Personally I'm not looking forward to the elections because I know it might get really bloody, but I've got my pvc and I'll be sure to vote for who I feel is right..

Great post ✌️
