E3, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix

Wout Van Aert, Jasper stuyven, Matej Mohoric, Matteo Jorgensen, Dylan Van Baarle, all riders that were not at the start of Paris-Roubaix this morning in Compiegne. The true favourite of today was Mathieu Van der poel, by miles ahead. Because of the lack of competition due to horror crashes in the last weeks.

But being the complete favourite also brings extra stress with it. And the weight if the race comes completely onto the team, Alpecin-Deceuninck.
But how about the way they handled with it. They completely took the race in hands with still 150 kilometers to go. Resulting in a complete slimming of the riders in front to only 40 riders.

With 62 kilometers left Mathieu went alone and rode to the finish by expanding his lead second by second to finish alone with 3 minutes in front of the second, his teammate Jasper Philipsen. An incredible display!

Now Van der poel has won E3, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix in one season and in the rainbow jersey! Just incredible, and in the meantime his teammate Jasper Philipsen won Milan-San Remo!

Talk about dominating the clsssics with Alpecin- Deceuninck!
