We didn't see that one coming, did we, Ladies and Gentlemen? Austria with an early goal and despite Ukraine desperately needing a goal, they were thwarted by a stoic Austrian effort which saw them not just holding on but threatening more goals.

As such, Austria go through and Ukraine will be sweating on other results as they wait for the other group games to finish that will seal their fate.

North Macedonia are definitely on their way home after a 3-0 defeat to an ever-stronger Netherlands.

Russia were totally stuffed by Denmark 4-1 and are on their way to the salt mines of Siberia in disgrace and my favourites, Belgium, hammered the plucky Finns 3-0 who will be hoping Croatia lose tonight and Spain to lose tomorrow if they want to progress to the next stage. I really hope they get through as I'm a temporary Finn at the moment!

So tonight, it's time to sort out Group C and England take on the Czechs to decide a group winner whilst the Scots take on Croatia which will decide who goes through and who goes home. I wonder who I will be supporting in this game? ;-)

The difference between the two teams is reputation. Croatia have long been associated with strength and determination which has made up for a slight lack of pure skill and a lot of this had been down to the talismanic Modric. Scotland are known for being crap. And they haven't shown anything to the contrary in this tournament. They got a draw against England because England were crap too.

Croatia just need to gel and if Perisic plays up to his potential, they will more than enough to hammer the hapless Scots.

Prediction: Croatia 3 : 0 Scotland - First goal scorer: Perisic

The Small Print

In the first goal scorer competition, own goals do not count. In the correct score competition, it's the score after 90mins. Extra time and penalties do not count and the pot for each competition will roll over if there is no winner. If more than one person chooses the same first goal scorer or correct score, the prize is shared, and everyone gets a little upvote! It seems I also need to add, one entry per person. Don't forget the new rule that only people with a rep of 45 or above are eligible to enter unless they have been approved. The bonus will be added to any winnings ONLY if Leeds United win and/or Man U lose and all pay-outs will never exceed 50% of post pay-out. Other bonuses paid out at my discretion.

The Winners were...

No one except my wallet! @abimbola753 got a little excited when Austria scored but there was no reply and so his 1-1 fell by the wayside as the expected firepower from Ukraine's Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko never materialised.
