10 My favorite food – Blogging Challenge Day 10

It is the 10th day of blogging challenge. There are 30 different topics for each session. That is amazing community in hive. I have finished 9 days. Today is the 10th day of challenge. Why I still feel enthusiast to follow the game? The topics listed challenge me. I don’t even think of the topic before I join the blogging challenge community. Some are simple and fun topics that I have never thought before on my posts.

My 10 favorite food

• Sate Madura

I am from Indonesia. Sate Madura is originally from Madura island. Madura island is dry and infertile island that is why most the inhabitants become urban all big cities in Indonesia. Some of them become successful recycle trash pickers ( pemulung). They pick up unused plastics, metals and other materials that are recyclables. Some of them become millionaires. Other Madura urban sell sate. Sate is skewed grilled lamb and chicken meat with special recipes. The taste of sate Madura is very special. The price is from 15,000 to 50,000 IDR/ portion. It is about $1 to $4 / portion. You can find sate Madura stall in the evening on the side of street in all over big cities in Indonesia. Most Indonesian people also like this kind of sate. In Indonesia there are many kinds of sate, sate Padang, sate Solo, sate Tegal and other sate.

• Nasi Padang

Padang is the capital city of West Sumatra province. Nasi padang is a name of cuisines of Minang ethnic. Most minang ethnics live in West Sumatra province. Some of the people from Minang open restaurants. The restaurants name are Nasi padang. Nasi padang is not trade mark but it is a cuisine. There are some menus if you visited nasi padang restaurant. They are rendang, gulai, kepala kakap, sambal balado, jengkol balado, paru, and boiled green cassava leaves. Nasi padang is very spicy and tasty. It uses a lot of herbs in cooking. A portion of nasi padang ranges from $1 to $10 depends on the location and the market target. You can find nasi padang restaurant easily in all over cities in Indonesia.

• Bakso

Bakso is a kind of soup with meatballs in it. The soup is special because it will only be tasty when you enjoy the soup itself. The soup consists of meatballs, some noodles, vegetables, bay leaves, celery. You need to add chili , tomato and soy sauce. The price of bakso per portion is about $1 to $3. This is very tasty soup. You can find bakso stalls easily in all areas in Indonesia. Most bakso sellers are from Solo , Bandung and Malang. Those types of serving and taste are different but they have their own uniqueness.

• Soto Or Coto
  Soto is a kind of chicken soup with special recipes. In Indonesia , there are many kinds of sotos based on the origin. Coto makasar is from Makasar ,Sulawesi, Soto surabaya is from Surabaya, Soto kudus is from Kudus. There are more than 30 different sotos in Indonesia. My wife usually makes soto because the recipes is not difficult. Next time I will post how to make soto.

• Gado-Gado

Gado-gado is a steamed vegetables salad with peanut sauce as the topping. The vegetables are spinach, cucumber, long bean, cabbage and other vegetables. You can eat with lontong. It is easy to make gado-gado. Next time I will also write how to make gado-gado. This kind of food is good vegetarian.

• Indonesian fried chicken

Indonesian fried chicken is different from KFC or other American fried chickens. Indonesian friend chicken is boiled with some spices first before it is fried. The serving is with chili sauce and some raw vegetables. The color of the chicken is brownish.

Those are my favorite local food in my country. Others are food that are not from my country.

• Kebab
  Kebab is food from middle east. I like the meat and the spicy taste. Kebab in my country is from $0.7 to $2 . Today, there are many kebab stalls on the side of street in some cities. Most sellers are following franchise model of business.

• Spaghetti
  I love spaghetti. This Italian food is rare in my country. It only available in fast food restaurant in mall. Small counters that sell spaghetti seem having few customers because the price is expensive. Spaghetti is from $2 to $5. That is expensive for more people that is why only big food counter that sell spaghetti.

• Zuppa soup
  It is a Chinese food. There are only few restaurants that sell zuppa soup. The price is also expensive. It starts from $1.5 to $5. Some Chinese restaurants in Indonesia have their own customers.

• Pizza
  Yeah, I like pizza but I rarely eat pizza because it is expensive. The price is from $5 to $15 my country. I can count how many times I eat pizza that I bought myself.

Those are my favourite foods. Most of them are my local food and other are from other countries. I think there are more various food that I have never tried. Food from Spain, French, and some European countries.
