RE: A BioShock Movie Is Coming to Netflix

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

The name Bioshock has always been accompanied by the phrase 'excellent game' I have not played it yet but it has a lot of good reviews so I could take it as really being a good game; However, we have to keep in mind that it has 2 big obstacles that can prevent it from being a good movie: First of all, Netflix adaptations are usually almost entirely the worst things that exist in this world, plagued by horrible narratives and forced inclusion that contributes absolutely nothing. The 2nd point to take into consideration is the duration, according to the internet the play time of the main story alone can easily take more than 10 hours so compressing all that into 2 hours would be complicated. I honestly have no hope for video game film adaptations, in which case the best option to cover as much of the story as possible would be through a series. Good post, I send you a hug and a greeting from a distance. n-n

hey jrjaime
good point. the playtime of a game vs a movie's run-time are never compatible. a series would be the best. but perhaps a 3-hour movie could make it justice.

regarding netflix adaptations, i'm not aware of how bad they are - i don't follow "their work", so to speak. i've seen some netflix productions which i have enjoyed, so i was hopeful.

but i still am though.

in the past there's been multiple attempts at making a BioShock movie, and the sole decision about if the movie got made has always been up to the game's writer and director Ken Levine. and he's been very picky about how the movie gets made, "killing" (as the game's studio's publisher has told Ken he will always have the right to do) many adaptations. meaning, not letting them adapt it.

if this is the case, still, and Ken Levine is still the one calling the shots (and assuming he hasn't become less interested), then netflix should have no say in how the movie gets made.

i'm not sure there's any more information about the movie and if Ken's still involved or not, but if he is, there's hope.

thanks for the comment.
and do play the game.
i get a commission for every referral ;)
