The Renaissance Green Gate in the style of Dutch Mannerism, similar to the Great Armory. Mannerism sought to achieve sublime, unnatural beauty. It was important in this style to surprise the viewer and to use unusual solutions. Critics considered works of this style degenerate and spoiled.
Hmm. It's hard to agree with the former critics today. The ornamentation of mannerist architecture can delight today.
This style was initiated by Italy.
Ps. The Green Gate connects to the Green Bridge.

In an article from October 31, Ewelina Oleksy mentions a drawbridge of the former Green Bridge leading to the Green Gate.

The journalist also wrote, to my joy, that the Green Bridge would be renovated. This is a good decision, because I believe that in its current state the bridge is a disfigurement to the Main Town. From the Motława side it also looks ugly, which I have already mentioned in other posts, writing that I dream of renovating this facility.

A decorated, forged sackcloth railing on the Bridge of Love would be useful, and the replacement of the surface as well. I am glad that the city authorities have it in the plan.

To think how in the Middle Ages such high temples were built without cranes...

I can't get over...

I just watched Pillars of the Earth this weekend, based on the novel by Ken Follett. A very interesting film, a bit of a fairy tale, in which I became interested in one of the main themes - building a medieval temple. I would just cut out the drastic scenes from the movie.

It is a pity that a lot is said about God in it, and in fact He is not there...
