The Way Back Machine: 2015

Long long ago I was cool. I not only fought fires, I made fires.

These were taken way back in 2015, Feb 12 2015 to be exact. I took them with my LG phone camera. Not bad for a little smartphone, especially back in those days.

Little did I know that in just 12 short hours I would look like this:

After my long day of burning, I went to drop off a rental car and took my motorcycle back. Unfortunately I only made it about a mile before I managed to throw myself off the bike and onto the road.

My helmet saved my face:

Two broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a fractured shoulder blade... So much fun. I was completely out of commission for six weeks. It took about 15 before I got on the bike again.

But it took me only about 8 weeks to get back to fire. This time in the Everglades.

May is a hot month in south Florida. Especially with fire!

I can't say I would ever want to go through that again, but damn the fire was fun.
