Ich wünsche Euch allen ein frohes Osterfest, was Ihr sonst so feiert, einen schönen Sonntag oder ein gute Zeit. (So, das sollte reichen für die nächsten Monate.)

Hello friends,
I wish you all a happy Easter, what else you celebrate, a nice Sunday or a good time. (So, that should be enough for the next few months).

Hier in Sosua wird Ostern gefeiert. Meist von denjenigen , die das ganze Jahr für in- und ausländische Touristen dienstleisten. Fast alle Geschäfte sind geschlossen, Produktionsbetriebe und Farmen ebenso.
Die Strände sind voll, deren Besucher ebenso. Viele Strandbars sind vorsorglich geschlossen, besonders die erkennbar von Ausländern geführt werden. Es ist eng an der beach und es fühlt sich latent aggressiv an. Vielleicht kommt es auch daher, dass viele der Strandbesucher eine etwas andere Sozialisation hatten.
Jetzt versteh ich auch den Riesenaufwand, den die Regierung mit den hunderten von Zivilschutzhelfern, Polizisten und Militärs. Er ist nötig, schon tagsüber.
Egal, in 2 Tagen ist das vorbei , der Strand hoffentlich wieder sauber und leer, so wie ich es mag.

Here in Sosua we celebrate Easter. Mostly by those who serve domestic and foreign tourists all year. Almost all stores are closed, manufacturing plants and farms as well.
The beaches are full, their visitors as well. Many beach bars are closed as a precaution, especially those recognizably run by foreigners. It is crowded on the beach and it feels latently aggressive. Perhaps it is also because many of the beachgoers had a slightly different socialization.
Now I understand the huge effort that the government has made with the hundreds of civil defense workers, police and military. It is necessary, already during the day.
Anyway, in 2 days it will be over, the beach hopefully clean and empty again, just the way I like it.

Dieser Truck auf dem Bild transportiert Hühner in diesen Kisten. Ob zur Schlachterei oder zur Legebatterie weiß ich nicht. Gelebt haben diese Tiere jedenfalls . Es sind 33 Grad, der Truck hat nicht mal einen Sonnenschutz.
Im Prinzip nichts neues für mich; das ist der Grund, warum Hühnerfleisch und Eier so billig sind, weil man sie billigst produzieren kann, wenn man es drauf anlegt.
Mit Schweinen und Rindern geht das nicht so einfach hier in den Tropen. Diese lassen sich das nicht gefallen. Und wenn man relativ sicher sein möchte, ein halbwegs artgerechtes Tier zu essen, sollte man generell nur Rind essen. Schweine werden gerne als Müllschlucker der Tourismus- und Lebensmittelindustrie benutzt.

With swine and cow, it's not so easy here in the tropics. They don't put up with it. And if you want to be relatively sure to eat a halfway species-appropriate animal, you should generally only eat beef. Pigs are often used as garbage chutes by the tourism and food industry.
