Druga nocka była zdecydowanie trudniejsza niż pierwsza, a wszystko zaczęło się od tego, że krótko przed rozpoczęciem mojej zmiany żona miała wizytę u stomatologa. Umówiłem się z kolegą, że tego dnia zostanie dłużej, do czasu, aż ja przyjadę do pracy, a następnego dnia on przyjdzie odpowiednio później. Żona miała wizytę na 18:45. Z doświadczenia wiem, że ten dentysta zaczyna przyjmować pacjentów od 7:00 rano, więc byliśmy przekonani, że będziemy ostatni. Jakie było nasze zdziwienie, kiedy wychodząc z gabinetu, zobaczyliśmy jeszcze cztery osoby w poczekalni. Tłumaczyliśmy to sobie tym, że nie potrafi odmawiać, a za kilka dni udaje się na cały miesiąc urlopu. Koniec końców, spóźniłem się do pracy około 45 minut, więc rano czekałem trzy kwadranse dłużej na swojego zmiennika.

W nocy zrobiłem sobie przerwę na trening. Tym razem zdecydowałem się na jeden z zestawów ćwiczeń, które otrzymałem kilka lat temu od trenera personalnego. Wykonując je, oczywiście spociłem się jak świnia, ale byłem z siebie dumny, bo ukończyłem cały trening w czasie znacznie krótszym niż kiedykolwiek. Ostatnio, kiedy próbowałem swoich sił w tym zestawie, zajęło mi to około 25 minut i byłem bliski zawału. A ostatniej nocy uporałem się z wszystkimi ćwiczeniami w niespełna 16 minut – byłem zasapany, ale nie umierający.

Kolejny dzień był jednak dużo gorszy. Nie miałem sił i chęci na bieganie, chociaż miałem trening w planie. Odpuściłem go, a w zasadzie przełożyłem na kolejny dzień. Oby pogoda dopisała.

The second night shift was definitely harder than the first, and it all started with my wife having a dentist appointment shortly before my shift began. I arranged with a colleague that he would stay later that day until I arrived at work, and the next day, he would come in correspondingly later. My wife's appointment was at 6:45 PM. From experience, I know this dentist starts seeing patients at 7:00 AM, so we were convinced we would be the last ones. Imagine our surprise when, upon leaving his office, we saw four more people in the waiting room. We rationalized it by thinking he can't say no, and in a few days, he's going on vacation for the entire month of August. In the end, I was about 45 minutes late for work, which meant in the morning I had to wait three-quarters of an hour longer than usual for my relief.

During the night, I took a break for a workout. This time, I decided on one of the exercise sets I received a few years ago from a personal trainer. While doing them, I obviously sweated like a pig, but I was proud of myself because I completed the entire workout in a much shorter time than ever before. The last time I tried my hand at this set, it took me about 25 minutes, and I was close to a heart attack. But last night, I got through all the exercises in just under 16 minutes – I was out of breath, but not dying.

The next day, however, was much worse. I had no energy or desire for a run, even though I had a workout on my plan. I skipped it, or rather, postponed it to the next day. Let's hope the weather is good.
