Does Your Account Actually Grow?
After the first four months of 2025 the annualized HIVE inflation is at 7.4%. This is higher than the projected 5.5% for 2025
After reading this on one of @dalz Hive inflation data post I realized one thing I dont think many Hivieans even think about when they are posting and curating content on the blockchain.
It’s crucial to understand that the goal in an economy is to grow faster than the pace of inflation; otherwise, you actually shrink.
That means that if you dont grow your HP faster than the projected 7.4%, you are actually losing value year over year on your account.
This is why the large account with great percision have voting set up for them so they always exceed the inflation and also have some room for growth.
I hate that this is the reality, because it doesnt promote any manual curation or find small accounts to vote on per say, but this is the current system we have and we just need to play with what we have.
If we wanna grow our influence on the platform and maybe be able to matter when decision are made, this is what we must think about always. Growing, and growing together.

The inflation in Hive is different from the traditional economy. Inflation in Hive means more tokens, but the price can go up. The same way are times in Hive where it becomes deflationary, but the price can go down. This is because Hive value depend of the demand.
We can have a Hive 7% inflation, but it the price keep on the 0.25 USD we are not losing money. We lose when our stake (the value in USD) and the earnings don't beat the trad-fi inflation.

True, but losing in the world of $HIVE
I understand what you say, but I wasnt actually thinking in terms of $, rather in influnece in Hive terms.
I just realize that Hive is a very interesting economic game that can be played in many different ways. But no one escapes inflation..
When I once had a large HP stake, I would check in on the account numbers after 24 hours and yes, I would see it increase without any curation or author rewards. A 10K stake would result in about 2 HIVE every 24 hours for doing nothing. !BBH
Yeah I know about that HP also grows a little. It was just the realization for me that a account can look like its growing, but instead its actually loosing influence on the network.
Hive is a interesting economic game imo, but maybe not so good as a social media. I just feel it doesnt encourage manual curation or finding newbie accounts, but might be wrong
I help myself by playing around with internal market. Beating 15% for $HBD on the savings account easily, but there is always issue of locking things up, when one is mssing the market move.
Yeah ofc there is stuff we can fiddle with to offload the inflations. I just realized that if I dont grow with the rate of inflation my influence on chain is actually shrinking.
Hive is a interesting economic game in this sense. But also devestating for manual curation and for newbies.
Yeah, rewards like taskmaster would be great^^ But $LEO might cover our under-performer-asses

I get where you are getting at, my account is nuked by marky so it does only grow when I buy Hive :)...
