We do make this kind of bread here in Libya, but it's often homemade, and we rarely buy bread like that so we rarely eat it.

In Algerian arabic they Say باڨيط،
People tell thé Baker , اعطيني باڨيط
That's what I was asking about, nice to know it's a french word, though.
