Knoxville, Tennessee. Where Taylor played his college football for Tennessee for four seasons from 2018-2021.

Alontae Taylor is an athletically gifted, smart, and perfectly sized cornerback prospect. He has good instincts as a football player and plays pretty physical. A franchise will be excited to have this guy. He seems like he will instantly make a cornerback room deeper and more competitive.

It's clear on tape that Taylor has plenty of talent. What makes Taylor's tape even more impressive though is the fact that Taylor has only been playing cornerback for four years, so with good coaching at the pro level, teams can likely easily elevate his already solid play at the next level.

In high school, Taylor was actually a really good quarterback. He was also a tremendous returner on special teams.

Alontae's high school highlights.

His stellar play led him to becoming a student at the University of Tennessee where he initially was a wide receiver until he made the decision to become a cornerback prior to his first season in college.

Between high school and college, Alontae Taylor has seen practically every side of the football field. While it seems Taylor was not required to return punts at Tennessee like he did in high school, Taylor proved that he was still very useful on special teams as he proved to be a skilled gunner. NFL franchises love seeing that versatility. Like any other job in the world, if you can do several positions well, you're a more attractive and desirable employee.

So, Alontae is physically gifted with great skills and great size, he is quite versatile and has good football IQ. But there is a final aspect of Alontae as a prospect that makes him one of my favorite guys in the draft, and that's his overall leadership. Taylor is always positive and always trying to rally his team. That is an overlooked aspect of football, I believe. If a player can help keep a team positive and motivated, that can go a long way.

Alontae is a guy you'd probably want to go to war with. I get the feeling he would have fit in well with the Seattle Seahwaks Legion of Boom.

What are your thoughts on Taylor's chances as a pro? Seems like a pretty can't miss pick. The dude is going to find a spot somewhere on the team.

Comment some of your thoughts on Alontae!

I think he's made some really big transitions, he was a wide receiver and now he's a defensive cornerback and it's something you don't see a lot of in the NFL. From what I see if he manages to have a lot of versatility, I don't know about this player and I find it very interesting to see which team in the draft takes him.
