ARCHITECTURE IS STILL BURNING IN BENIDORM (D/ENG/ESP) - A new entry for photography and architecture lovers

Es war ein gutes Gefühl, als ich wiedermal hohe Häuser zu fotografieren konnte. Dafür sind meine Freundin und ich extra zwei Tage nach Benidorm (Spanien) gereist. Eine spanische Stadt am Mittelmeer mit vielen solcher Häuser. Dies, weil der damalige Bürgermeister in den sechziger Jahren sich gänzlich dem Tourismus verschrieben hat (auch hatte er sich für die Aufhebung des damals herrschenden Bikini-Verbots an den spanischen Stränden eingesetzt). Heute gleicht Benidorm einer aus dem Boden gestanzten Retortenstadt und Tummel-/ und experimentier Spielplatz spanischer Architekten (ich habe echt keine Altstadt gefunden).

It was a good feeling when I was able to photograph tall houses again. For this, my girlfriend and I travelled to Benidorm (Spain) for two days. A Spanish city on the Mediterranean with many such houses. This was because the mayor at the time was totally committed to tourism in the sixties (he had also campaigned for the lifting of the then prevailing ban on bikinis on Spanish beaches). Today, Benidorm resembles a test-tube city that has been stamped out of the ground and is a playground for Spanish architects (I really couldn't find an old town).

Me sentí muy bien cuando pude volver a fotografiar casas altas. Para ello, mi novia y yo viajamos a Benidorm (España) durante dos días. Una ciudad española en el Mediterráneo con muchas casas de este tipo. Esto se debió a que el alcalde de la época estaba totalmente comprometido con el turismo de los años sesenta (también había hecho campaña para que se levantara la entonces vigente prohibición de los bikinis en las playas españolas). Hoy en día, Benidorm parece una ciudad probeta que ha sido troquelada del suelo y es un patio de recreo para los arquitectos españoles (realmente no pude encontrar un casco antiguo).

So bin ich zwei Tage lang von Morgens um 9 Uhr bis Abends um 18 Uhr mit dem Fahrrad durch Benidorm geradelt (Fahrradwege hat es genug) und habe einfach Mal geknipst. Echt viele Male geknipst. Ein echtes Paradies für Architektur begeisterte Fotografen.
Nur etwas hat mich bei meinem Fotomarathon ein wenig frustriert; viele Gebäude sind grossräumig mit einer Parkanlage und Parkplätze für die Anwohner umschlossen,und für Nicht- Anwohner gesperrt. So bin ich an praktisch keinem Wolkenkratzer näher als 100 Meter herangekommen und musste aus Distanz fotografieren. Trotzdem habe ich ca. 800 Bilder behalten, mit welchen ich nun arbeiten kann. Hier eine erste Auswahl aus der spanischen Wolkenkratzerstadt Benidorm.

So I cycled through Benidorm for two days, from 9 am in the morning until 6 pm in the evening (there are plenty of cycle paths) and just took pictures. Really many times. It's a real paradise for photographers who love architecture.
There was only one thing that frustrated me a little during my photo marathon: many of the buildings are surrounded by a large parking area for residents and closed to non-residents. So I couldn't get closer than 100 metres to practically any skyscraper and had to take pictures from a distance. Nevertheless, I kept about 800 pictures, which I can now work with. Here is a first selection from the Spanish skyscraper city Benidorm.

Así que recorrí Benidorm en bicicleta durante dos días, desde las 9 de la mañana hasta las 6 de la tarde (hay muchos carriles bici) y me limité a hacer fotos. Realmente muchas veces. Es un auténtico paraíso para los fotógrafos amantes de la arquitectura.
Sólo hubo una cosa que me frustró un poco durante mi maratón fotográfico: muchos de los edificios están rodeados por una gran zona de aparcamiento para residentes y cerrada a los no residentes. Así que no podía acercarme a menos de 100 metros de prácticamente ningún rascacielos y tenía que hacer fotos desde lejos. Sin embargo, conservé unas 800 fotos, con las que ahora puedo trabajar. He aquí una primera selección de la ciudad española de los rascacielos Benidorm.
