Nope…………it’s just more rain in the forecast Lol!😅
Just not today!🤗
Silvertop was hoping for a bit of Sunshine for today’s hike over on “Soaring Eagles” trailhead…………..
Not so much in the order of Sunshine today, but no rain, I’ll call that a win!👍
Late Fall, Early Winter, has definitely set in……………
“Slumbering Bear Trail” has taken on a gloomy, solemn, look!😮
This dark section of trail is a favorite for Black Bears, and Cougars!
It’s always best to occasionally check behind you on this trail, just to be sure you are not being followed!😺

They say make yourself look BIG, don’t run, YELL if they start to approach you, and hike in a group!😇
The thick bed of leaves underfoot that once crunched loudly helping to alert the “natives” that Silvertop was hiking in “THEIR” mountains, was now tightly packed down.
I watched carefully……. I was hiking alone today!😮
The temperature dropped ten degrees, and a stiff wind picked up, as I crossed over the ridge top of Sumas Mountain!🥶
Just a dusting of snow could be seen on the far off Mountain peaks, beyond Soaring Eagles trailhead!
One and one half hours hiking into the Mountains, and Silvertop only had one and one half hours till darkness ……………
It was time to head back towards home!
This time of day the big Cats are just waking up, looking for their next meal!😺
Back home Cot the “Baby Mountain Lion” would also just be waking up……..hungry looking for Dad to put out his food!😻
Big, or small, this time of day, the Cats are on the prowl!😻😳

Glad you got home safe! Have you ever had to actually use bear spray? Does it work?? How about cougar spray??
Lol.... I accidentally had the safety come off the bear spray and sat on a wooden bench up in the forest and almost sprayed myself!🙄😳😂
Well at least the bear spray works!!😉
No such luck with a cougar, just try to avoid a confrontation or bring lots of catnip Lol!😇

That rain sure loves visiting your neighborhood. We haven't had any since that big last storm thank goodness. Glad to hear your careful out on those trails, especially this time of year, those predators can be hungry and if you're alone they tend to think you're easy prey. Good thing you keep that bear spray handy! Maybe you should carry a 45 just as a back up out on those trails! lol
That's really not a bad idea, if I start seeing tracks I start carrying my 9mm with solid copper (not jacketed) hollow points.....
Lately I've gotten a bit lazy about taking it with me on my hikes, probably not the best idea🙄
