A genuine friend stick around during the good and bad times

There are many people that pose as friends but are they really our friends? unfortunately we may not know until we face hard time, that is when we will be able to know who truly love us for who we are and those who are only there for the benefit....

I am one of the lucky ones that got to witness true friendship and up till date, i always remember that act of kindness by that my friend, he was there for me during my tough times and even though i never asked him for help but i needed all the help he rendered because they came at the time i really need it the most, he was an angel sent to help me....

This is a story that happened in the year 2011, this family moved into the house right next to mine and among the children of my neighbor was their second son who we clicked faster than i imagine....

My family is not rich, sometimes we eat good and some other time, it is difficult to get two meal in a day talkless of three and most time i get tired of eating the same food every time, my dad loves garri [ eba in my dialect] but after eating this food for years, i started losing appetite, sometimes i will just take 3 swallow and that is all, i was not eating to satisfy myself but just to survive and have the strength to do my daily task....

My friend's family was not rich either but my friend is a strong lad and he can do those hard job to get daily wages unlike me who was a weakling and can't do any hard labour due to lack of strength, i tried to do it once but my body failed me, my friend saw that i could not do it and he knows i needed help so this is what he did to show me he was a genuine friend...

Every night, after the day's hard work, he always take me to an eatery to eat, he made me to love eating tuwo shinkafa[ a native food in my country] because i never bought it until he took me there and it later became one of the food i love eating... It is rare to see someone that will work hard in the day only to spend part of the money together with you in the night on food...

He did this for several weeks and he never grumbled for one night, infact if he didn't see me, he will look for me so we can go to our favorite eatery to have our plate of tuwo shinkafa...

Thanks to him, i ate good in the night and slept well for weeks! ...

Even though the last time i saw him was 8 years ago, i still have his contact and we have each other on social media and whenever i saw his pictures or status. it always remind me of the good times with him.... He is one of those people that helped me genuinely without expecting anything in return....
