I've wandered with all my heart

I have travelled the world in search of beauty, excitement, passion and happiness, but to every place I have wandered I have carried those things with me, within me, knowing that I'll never find them externally if I don't feel them internally.

For months now I've been thinking about travelling and that time is slipping by. I'm not old, however with the last few years virtually taken away from me in as far as travelling overseas I'm feeling antsy.

I can't travel; it's that simple. I'm dealing with a situation that requires me to be here close to my terminally ill mother and I'm ok with it, however accepting the situation doesn't lessen the desire to travel. My guy and I talk about it a lot because it helps to remind ourselves of past experiences with the thought of repeating them and creating new ones; it keeps up upbeat. We talk fondly of places we love, Paris, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and many others which keeps the passion burning, but travel is an impossibility at this juncture.

Last night we were reflecting on past trips and the situation we are in and came to a decision, we're going to plan an overseas trip.

We've always found the trip-planning enjoyable; researching the places we will go, learning about the history or interesting places and things we will find and determining how we can get off the tourist-trail a little and see those places differently. It's an enjoyable part of the trips we've taken and have decided that planning a trip, doing those things I mentioned above, will be a good exercise, will give us something to look forward to and a focus for our thoughts.

We'll not be able to take the trip, not just yet anyway, however planning it will give us something to pour our passion for wandering into.

I love travel, it's been one of the most important experiences in my life and I've wandered the world with all my heart. I will do so again, with my man beside me, and will broaden the experiences I've already had. It's exciting to think about and I'm looking forward to nights to come at home with my boy remembering past trips and experiences and planning new ones.

We've decided tonight is a good time to start. It's going to be cool tonight so I'm preparing creamy salmon penne pasta, a side salad and garlic bread made with olive bread. I've got the perfect bottle of wine selected too...not that I know much about wine. I've picked up a couple cannoli's for dessert and there'll be coffee, there's always coffee. I think, together with the travel planning and the supper I've got arranged, we're in for a really nice Saturday night, it's one we need after the week we've had.

Becca 💗

We think it will be a nice way to keep us thinking about travel and actively working towards it.

Have you travelled much?

love travel, it's been one of the most important experiences in my life

I guess we have this in common. I also love traveling, exploring new places and tourist attractions. I love visiting ancient artifacts because I'm a person who loves to know about history.

I'm sorry about your mom's illness but I'm certain that you'd soon get to make your numerous, lovely trips round the world

I understand the fun of planning, even when you can't follow through right away.

I had never lived away from the general area I was born in and was ok with that. One day, a man's words made me wonder if I could even actually live far away from my family and still be happy. I planned an imaginary trip half a country away, not just to visit, but to live. I was just curious what it would actually take to do it. I didn't plan it fast, but by the time the planning was done, I was excited and actually wanted to go !

I asked myself, what's the worst that could happen, I'd go, I'd lose everything I had and would have to call home to ask someone to send me a plane ticket home. I didn't expect anything like that to happen, but decided I could live with that and then I put my plan in place and moved half a country away and lived there for 6 years.

You never know what may come out of planning..... 😊

Hope ya'll had a very nice evening.

That's a lovely story of how a little planning just for the enjoyment of it can lead to interesting places! I think, with us, it's partly that because if the trip is planned it seems more likely to occur. We had a nice Saturday evening beginning the planning and will do so again.

I am sure you will have a pleasant Saturday evening.

Coffee is always here too eh eh!

I was reading your post and thinking about myself, what you are doing tonight is a good habit for me; I also love to travel but due to various situations we currently can't do it much and also my wife can't take planes due to a problem she has with her ears as a child.

But in order not to lose my aptitude for travel and to keep the traveler spirit alive in me, I often plan and organize trips to places I'd like to see, I know that maybe we won't be able to do them for now, but it's something that comforts me.

A big hug to both of you!

We've spent weeks and weeks researching places we've travelled to as there's often many detours along the way, especially where history is concerned. We love it though, it's an enjoyable part of our trip planning.

Maybe you could train around the place? We did so several times in Europe and the experience was pretty nice. Where do you think you would go first?

If I could organize a trip and leave today I would go back to Tuscany as my first destination. I've been there and I've lived there but I've been away for several years, I would go on a tour of at least 15 days, I have many friends to embrace again and places to see again.

I love Italy so I think that's a wonderful choice. If you go anywhere else though (flying) where do you think it would be?

there are so many places to see heh heh!
But if I could choose I would like to visit Australia, just yesterday I saw Sydney on TV and I thought it would be nice to be able to spend some time there.

Sydney is nice, I have been there. There's seven million people though, far too busy for my liking. There's some amazing places to visit in Australia, all of these I've been to: Great Barrier Reef, Katherine Gorge, Kakadu National Park, The Blue mountains (Katoomba), Daintree Forest, Fraser Island, Melbourne, Byron Bay, Broome, The Great Ocean Road, Whitsunday Islands, anywhere in Tasmania.

Australia is vast and, as a traveller, there's many places on my list of places to visit...over in Australia and around the rest of the world too.

Yes Of course Sydney would be just one stage of the journey, Australia is big and deserves to be seen in its entirety.

I too have the traveling spirit and the places I would like to see are many heh heh!
