"NOPE" - To The Point - Movie Review

A mysterious entity terrorizes some people. They decide to capture it on film, and figure out how to stop it from eating everyone.

People talk about this director, but i gotta say, the movie just felt like very slow paced, and uninteresting.

At least on a first watch. Because some people are saying this is a great movie. so let me tell you what there is in the movie, which never had disclosure.

Along with this entity, there's a side story that keeps popping up, slowly being revealed, about this monkey that one day, while "being worked" on a sitcom, goes mental and royally f*cks up a cast member - pretty gory stuff, pretty cool scene. That is the backstory of some random guy.

Then, what the hell does that have to do with the entity? What are we focusing on here, movie? You got a huge entity in the sky, and we're focusing on the monkey side story of some random guy?

Then, there's also, what appears to be an alien(?) woman, sitting in a crowd, during a final scene of the film where the entity shows up, during an exterior show like a carnival.

Something right out of the X-Files. She never gets mentioned or explained.

Some people online talk about the meaning of the movie that it is about working with animals and how Hollywood does things. All that stuff we've heard before - you know, "Bad Hollywood!".

I want to either be entertained without much thought about what's going on, OR, i can be educated, but this movie cannot make up it's mind what it's doing. Because the entity bit is dumb action, and the back-story of the monkey which keeps popping up is enigmatic and encrypted and hidden.

So, my rating for this movie is "It's not good".

Gotta mention the good cinematography on most of the interior shots, and there's some good interactions between some of the characters.

I found this film enjoyable but I agree it was probably a mistake to give so much important to the crazy monkey scene. and regarding the woman with the strange look, not sure if she was alien or if she simply had horrible scars. I think the director tried to include so many different elements the film can feel a bit convoluted for those who want to interpret every single scene. Regarding the entity, it was a very original concept and I love it but I would have prefer to know more about it.

exactly, dedicatedguy. i was more interested in the entity itself, than whatever the movie was trying to say!
