We Are Alive! April 21st 2023 Making Forsythia Flower Pie!

After soaking the forsythia flowers in buttermilk overnight, we strained out the flowers and we're left with flower infused buttermilk.

My wife made the pie dough and formed it in the pie pan.

We use rice to weigh down the crust to the pan and bake.

My wife makes a custard and we add the flower-flavored buttermilk as the final ingredient.

A double boil to make the custard. Once finished, we put the custard in the baked pie crust and put it in the refrigerator overnight to solidify.

We add whipped cream on the top for some extra fluffiness.

We baked three pies total, two for our family and another for my family next door.

"Would you like a pie?" It was a welcome gift!

Those pies looked very tasty. I'm going to have to find some to try making it myself, it will be my first attempt at a pie crust from scratch when I do make it, so wish me luck that they turn out better than my biscuits (which are basically hockey pucks that are a golden brown not black,) I'm sure they will. Yes, I'm sure, well maybe not sure, but hopeful, yes hopeful is a more accurate word, hopeful. LOL! 😊

I'm about to cook our bread for the Sabbath, so I'll have to say goodbye for now and chat with you again another day. 😊
