Repainting Our Dining Table, Removing the Old Wax

Today's project is to prepare the dining table for a new coat of paint. Years of children digging their forks into the blue paint has revealed the white paint underneath and in some places the original wood.

Our dining table certainly has a "distressed" look to it, but I think it's time to ease the stress and make it look new again.

It was painted with chalk paint and covered in a wax for protection. The wax has rubbed off in most places, but I need to use some turpetine

Many of the edges have already been stripped of the paint, I just need to remove the wax over the rest of the table. It doesn't have to be all white (it's all right if it's not all white), but it'll take some elbow grease and turpentine along with the sander to get the wax off.

I take the leaves off to get a closer look.

Once the entire surface is sanded and washed down, this is what it looks like. Not that different, but now it's ready for a fresh coat of white paint!

Not a lot to show for all the sweat, but it's ok. Once we get the paint on, it'll look like new! After painting, we add a coat of fresh wax to preserve it for the next few years. :-)

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations. Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Looking forward to seeing pictures after the paint!
Things restored or handmade bring amazing warmth and energy. That's what attracted me as a child in my grandmother's village. I realized it only now)
