Desperation

These past few days have taught me a lesson on desperation and how dangerous it can be. It has taught me that as much as it's a good thing to want something and go for it, when you notice you're getting to a point where it feels like nothing else matters, thereby making you risk every other thing that you have just to have that one thing, take a break, go outside, and try to calm yourself.

If possible, don't think about that thing anymore for that day, and maybe come back for it the next day after you've cooled off. Doing that won't only help you think clearly (because you're no longer as desperate as you were the previous day); it also would help you make a better decision, one that maybe wouldn't require you to risk everything else and put yourself in a very difficult position.

Taking a break can do a lot of good; we just most times don't even realize it. If only I knew this a couple of days ago, a lot of things that happened to me probably wouldn't have, and I wouldn't be in the situation I am today.

I'm the kind of guy who prefers to learn from other people's mistakes, but lately I've been learning from mine instead. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing; it's just that in order for you to learn from your mistake, you have to first make that mistake, which clearly is something I imagine none of us like.

But yeah, the lesson for today is to pause and rethink everything at a later date when it all starts to look like you're getting to a point where it feels like nothing else matters in your life unless you get that one thing.

And don't get me wrong, you could take a day off, and when you come back, still end up taking the same decision you would have taken the previous day. Taking a pause doesn't always guarantee that you would do things differently, but occasionally, it will help you make a better decision.

Yea, taking a break can do a lot of good, and in some cases, you may return back to still take your original decision, but it's better never to desperately act, the chances of risking it is higher ..
Just be calm and allow situation to die off a bit, it makes more sense that way..
I am glad you are learning from your mistake now.

It's all good

Exactly my point Nkem. Taking time to cool off always helps, even if you end up still taking the same decision.
Thanks for reading.

Exactly my point. Clear your mind before you act.
