Dancing

Since I was a kid, if there was one thing I've always wanted to be good at, it is dancing and this was because at the time, dancing was like everything to me. If you wanted to be popular and have a lot of friends, all you have to do is become a good dancer.

Unfortunately, I wanted all of that but was terrible at dancing. I wasn't just terrible, I was also shy and if there's one thing that doesn't go well with being a dancer, it is being shy because in other to be a dancer who is loved by everyone and have a lot of friends, you have to dance in public.

I remember this one kid back then who was everyone's favorite. His nickname then was Mimi, which is the shorten version of the name Miracle.

Miracle was so talented in dancing that he would come to parties and steal the whole show. The moment Miracle starts dancing, everyone will stop whatever it is they're doing and focus on him while spraying money on him and this was mainly because Miracle was a little kid who knew how to do dance steps that kids his age had no idea how to do.

He would come to our street carnival to dance and win a lot of gift and cash prizes while I was on the corner, admiring him and wishing I was half as good as the kid was.

I remember I even went as far as practicing with some YouTube videos on how to do some Nigerian dance steps. I was terrible at some and then there were those I thought I got right but when I show the dance steps to my brothers, they would laugh at me and ask me never to do that outside.

All of that ended up killing my self esteem and I gave up. I came to the conclusion that I will never become a good dancer so I stopped watching the YouTube videos and just succumbed to my fate.

I've come to the conclusion that the only place I will ever be a good dancer is in my own little world in my tiny head, my imagination. Anything other than that is a no no for me. I've tried learning to dance and I've failed. Unfortunately, it looks like this body just wasn't programmed to move to any beat.

Hehe. I can totally relate to this.

I really don’t know how to dance too, just few dances. I would download dance step video to practice them at my leisure but with all my sis will end up saying “just continue, let me video you so you I’ll see the nonsense you are doing” she always say.. my legs are tiny and it doesn’t fit dance.

I guess some days, I’ll get better.
Thanks for sharing this with us. It was fun to read

If you keep on trying, you will definitely get better. All you have to do is not to allow their negative comments discourage you.

I dance a lot even though my bathroom walls are the only witnesses I have.

It baffles me how people do those moves and I can't, my brother dances a lot and I can relate to Mimi's life with dancing. Dancers win people's hearts easily and I can testify to how they have used those steps to steal people's boyfriends and girlfriend
