Built Different

Sometimes, I've often wondered if Africans are built different and this is because most times, we don't get to experience most things (like sicknesses) people from the other side of the word do experience. One time my friend had joked about how foreign scientists are always the first to discover new type of viruses or sickness because the people there get sick with it first, and that the virus has to board a flight to get over here.

It obviously was a joke but I did think about it for a minute, and it's either our scientists over here suck at their job (which might be very true) or what he says is true. A good case of African being built different was during the covid era. Bill Gate had even said it himself that Africa was going to get hit the most with covid and that the death toll was going to be huge but at the end of the day, the reverse was completely the case.

Even up till this day, a lot of the citizens of Nigeria still feel like covid never really got into the country and that the government only said it did just so that they could get money from international bodies. And even though that might be true, let's just imagine that covid did get into the country, how come many of us never really knew someone directly who had covid.

Some say it probably was because we killed it with some malaria drugs and this also can be very true because Nigerians don't play with their malaria medicine. It's like the cure to all sickness over here. But imagine curing a virus that actually gives some difficulties in breathing with mere malaria drugs, that's crazy.

Another reason why I say Africans are built different are allergies. I've never in my life seen or heard anyone over here say that they're allergy to anything here. As a matter of fact, the first time I heard of the word "allergies" was from a foreign movie. And at first it was really strange to me why someone will have to get taken to a hospital just because they ate a food that isn't poisoned. It was weird at first, but the more I read about it, the more I understood that some people are built different, it's just the way it is.

I mean I'm sure there might be few Nigerians who have allergies. I guess the reason why our body doesn't act the same way is probably because of the different kind of food we eat, maybe.. Or is there something else?

Are Africans really built different?

We're all built different, but I will say that Africans are much more "sturdy" and athletic, which probably could result towards a stronger immune system. Africans are used to living in tough conditions, the majority also hold a mesomorphic structure and build too, which isn't so common for the people who live in the other parts of the world.

Diet is also a thing, but so is daily activity; in the other parts of the world it's getting a bit too "comfy" which is why people are becoming more lazy day by day, and that surely doesn't help in terms of health.

So yes, I will say that Africans are built different, in a level of their own in some categories, especially in terms of athleticism and stamina.

I agree with everything you've said... I guess this is the one time where living in a place with harsh conditions comes in handy 😂
