Addicted to Winning

I think we all can agree that most times, it is a good thing to have competition because it helps keep us on our feet, but sometimes I just can't help but feel like people do too much just so that they can win. Nowadays people don't even care what they're competing for anymore (especially in an argument); all they just care about is to win, and trust me when I say that it's not everything we want to be a winner at.

I remember one time in high school, I and my friends were having a conversation, and we started talking about being poor, and all of a sudden, these two guys just started going at each other, both of them trying to convince the rest of us that they were the poorest among the group.

They didn't even realize how stupid their argument was until someone pointed out the fact that they were arguing about being poor, and then they both immediately felt embarrassed, and that was the end of that conversation.

Something similar to that happened today, which actually is the reason for today's blog. I was with my friends, and some of them were talking about sports betting. Apparently in the sports betting app, there's a feature that allows you to see a roundup of the total money you've spent since you registered that account.

It doesn't show you the exact figure, just a roundup of it. So if you've spent, let's say, seven or eight thousand, it rounds it up to like ten thousand.

Well, these guys, who unfortunately are also my friends, suddenly felt it was a good idea to brag about the amount of money they've spent on gambling. They both started arguing among themselves about who had spent the most money, as if it was a flex or something.

They wouldn't shut up until I pointed out that they were bragging about being addicted to gambling and the amount of money they've lost to it.

Sadly, this happens everywhere, everyone just desperately trying to win at everything, not caring if it's a good thing or not. The moment they notice it's an argument, they immediately feel the urge to want to argue and win, irrespective of whatever the topic is.

They are desperate to win but in this competition they forgot their floor level. I also noticed such a thing many times.

The whole argument thing is Soo tiring I tell you. These days I just tend to agree with the other person to avoid unnecessary conversations. It gets so bad that some even try to gaslight you just to win😔😔.. pathetic
