Surrealismo

Surrealism

image.png

The first thing I must clarify is that I am not an expert in paintings, but I admire Surrealism or rather a painter who stood out in this movement and was Frida Kalo, a woman who lived her life in her own way and today is remembered, admired and remembered.

Now what is or what are the characteristics of surrealism:

Surrealism is an artistic movement founded in 1944 by the French writer André Breton, who elaborated the Surrealist Manifesto. In the artist's own words:

"Psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one sets out to express verbally, by means of the written word or in any other way, what is really going on with thought."

Source

When reading this movement was not raised or devised thinking about painting, but it was quickly adopted by painters among whom were the well-known Salvador Dali, being one of the main or favorable characteristics the post World War I environment. Something that helped surrealism to continue was that the painters who decided to capture it at the time were very close to the people and this allowed its progress and growth.

As for Frida Kalo, she herself stated that she did not know if her paintings were surrealist or not, but she saw herself reflected in them, when reading about it we see that those who have studied her works see some elements of surrealism present in the works of this woman, whose characteristic was to be included in all of them, something that is presented in a very humorous way in the movie Coco.

But on the other hand, they declare that her works were painted consciously, and in the pure surrealism the reason should not be present, even she herself said that she hated surrealism, but there are those who affirm that her works are characterized by a series of expressionist and surrealist elements with popular themes.

Thanks for reading nuevo.png

Finally, like many artistic expressions, surrealism had its peak and decline, the peak came after the end of the First World War and its decline at the beginning of the Second War, the artists were forced to leave Europe, to new latitudes, where their presence allowed the emergence of new movements, so I say goodbye wishing you have learned a little more about Surrealism.

Hola amiga @actioncats.
