Weekly Update for the End of July 2022

Spent a Whole Bunch of Time Away From My Computer This Week!

Last Sunday night my Dad informed us that he hadn't been able to see out of his left eye for at least a few days. He has been wearing a patch on that eye for a long time. He had to surgeries on the strabismus muscles last year. They were not able to clear up the double vision. He thought that since he wasn't seeing double when he took off the patch that it was getting better.
Nope! He just wasn't able to see, period.

On Monday morning we called his neuro-ophthalmologist. I know, a real mouthful, right? He is an hour away from us in Milwaukee. That is where we spent from noon until almost 6 o'clock that evening. Ever see the commercials on TV for a drug called Tepezza? My Dad had a round of that back in 2020 when it hadn't hit the market yet. He has Graves Disease and his Thyroid Eye Disease is active. If the Tepezza does not get approved for another round he will have to get a surgical procedure called an Orbital Decompression. Because his optic nerve is being squeezed by his eye muscles and if he loses anymore nerve cells they won't be able to reverse the damage. While we wait for the Tepezza approval he is back on Steroid infusions which are really just a band aid. The steroids are weekly for 12 weeks. The Tepezza will be once every three weeks and a total of 8 infusions.

Part of the problem is my father is stubborn and chooses to suffer in silence and/or doesn't like to ask anyone for help. He kind of resents the loss of his independence and the ability to just get up and go when he wants to. The doctor told him last week that this has to get done and he has to be more flexible about where it gets done. That might mean that we drive up to Milwaukee and spend the day every three weeks. Or failing that he gets the surgery and has to spend a couple nights in the hospital up there.

As of right now, there are some people looking into a free option for him to get the Tepezza since the insurance has refused it again. They have all the information they need from us. I believe they are going right to the company that makes the stuff. Fingers crossed we get the results we are hoping for by the end of next week.

I Learned that I Need 5500 Hive Power to Officially Be a Dolphin!

Last week, @jongolson told me that official Dolphin Status is 5500 HP. And then he shared with me how he found out. He looked it up on hivebuzz.me.
He found the last minnow and the first dolphin. At that point the person at Rank 1901 was a Dolphin with 5501 HP and the person at 1902 was a minnow with 5491 HP. My rank last Sunday was 2083 for HP. And I was 605.259 away from 5500.

image.png

As of today I am 598.937 HP away from Dolphin or 89% there. A little further away than I thought but I am not discouraged. I will just keep swimming in that direction.

Spread my Token Buying Between Yesterday and Today!

I started out with 22.0148564 Swap.Hive between what I had in my Hive Engine Wallet already, what I got from my weekly fiat dollar cost averaging, and I what I got from trading some other tokens.

heindex.png

HE-INDEX is First Priority as Usual

I bought 15 more HE-Index for a total of 6.877608 Swap.Hive.
My new HE-INDEX holdings are 1777.0002637

It took me two buy orders to get those tokens. The first one was only filled for 7.392 HE-INDEX. I just cancelled the outstanding order and placed another one.

image.png

This is Why I Spread My Buying Over Two Days!

I wanted to buy another Rare card and I was looking for one that would increase my skill but not my fans because I am trying to keep my ego way down. I have been able to keep it at 0% for some time now.

Between Singing and Guitar lessons and cards with good skill points I am doing alright.

I still had 1646 Starbits in my Hive Engine wallet that was left from last week and with a deposit from the game of 4418 Starbits I had 6064 Starbits.

Before I had to get back off my computer again yesterday I bought enough Starbits to buy a rare card I was looking at and have enough left over for another booster card.

image.png

Today I bought the R18 Toadie card for 33,000 Starbits. This increased my skill by 200 points, 0 fan increase, 5 luck and 1 income modifier.

I also used 5000 more Starbits for another coffee cup so I have five of those cards now too.

There are 3012 Starbits left in my wallet for next time.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

I have been having similar issues with my grandpa. I recently took over taking care of his medical "stuff" for many reasons but mainly because my dad asked me to.

It has been a mess, he hadn't been taking his medications and yada yada, blah blah, his insurance is a mess, he needed help and didn't ask (I think he needed so much help he didn't even know he needed it).

It's been a challenge but its getting sorted.

Happy to hear you can continue growing event though you have these real world bumps.

Thank you, @metzli! Happy to hear that you're able to help your grandfather get his situation sorted out. Getting older isn't for sissies. I am grateful to be in a position that makes me available to help. It is much simpler since we are living right here in the house with him and not having to go back and forth like we did when we lived in the apartment. Have a great day! 😀

Thanks, @vagabond42069! It does help that I am really only tracking a few things for these updates. I have to keep notes on it all week. Appreciate your comment. Have a great day.😀

Thank you, @ijat. Yes, a little bit, I think, I am glad that I found a game I can understand somewhat. I do like the more passive nature of it as well. Also happy that I figured out how to keep my ego meter at 0% most times.
Have a great day! 😀

Sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope you can get the required medicine. It seems lots of people have trouble with their insurers.

Thank you very much, Steve! Insurance is a pain in the rear when they might actually have to pay for a treatment. Fingers crossed this will get resolved one way or the other by the end of this next week. Then we will know how to move forward after that. Have a great day! 😀

Hi Lisa this is very interesting information.
Thank you so much!
I will have to try playing Rising Star Game.
I like to to exercise so I am doing Actifit now.
I will try to fit in Rising Star.
I have to read about how to power up on Hive.
I dont' understand it.
I'm praying for your Dad, Lisa.
I bet the company will give him free option for medicine!
Sending him love, prayers, big hugs daily and for you and family too.

Thank you, Barb! Prayers are very much appreciated. One of the things that attracted me to Rising Star is the relatively passive nature of it. Do you have liquid Hive you need help to power up? I can try and help you if you'd like me to. Have a great day! 😀

Very nice post, Lisa.

I hope that your Dad can get the medication from the Manufacture. That will likely work better than surgery.

I like your approach to cards in the Rising Star game. You build up your skill without adding more fans.

Your DCA worked out well this week.

Keep on crushing it!

Thank you, John! I will just be happy to get it resolved one way or the other and sooner than not. We all would prefer that the Tepezza gets approved. That is certainly the ideal outcome. I can't imagine how isolating it must feel for him to be losing his eyesight and hearing. And my Dad is a very social person. So that is even more difficult.
I am definitely happy with my DCA outcomes this week. I also really like that I found a game that I can understand. 😀
Thanks again and enjoy your day! 😀

I agree about the game.
I have never been much of a gamer. My all-time favorite is Space Invaders, which is about as complex as I get with video games.
I like how Rising Star does not require much of my time, and I can run it in the background.

That's one of my favorite things about Rising Star. I just set it for a longer mission and do something else like knit and watch TV. 😀Have a great day!

Part of the problem is my father is stubborn

I have yet to find a father that is not stubborn and especially after a certain age. "Fingers crossed" that your father's situation turns out for the better soon enough!

Voted on ListNerds!

I guess that's where I get it from. Both my parents, really. Mom could dig her heels in pretty well too. Thank you very much for your comment and support, @drlobes. Have a great day! 😀
