The 1st match of the Womens Big Bash League 2021 was played yesterday between Sydney Sixers Women and Melbourne Stars Women at Bellerive Oval, Hobart, in which Sydney Sixers Women defeated Melbourne Stars Women by 6 wickets.

Due to heavy rain Match was reduced to 11 overs per side, Sydney Sixers Women won the toss and invited Melbourne Stars Women to bat first, Melbourne Stars Women batted first, started the inning very brilliantly, Elyse Villani and Annabel Sutherland came to start the inning and gave a brilliant start a partnership of 49 runs for 1st wicket, the first wicket has gone for 49 runs in the first ball of the fifth over, Prithvi Shaw dismissed just for 18 runs in 5.5 over, Annabel Sutherland dismissed after scoring 14 runs in 19 balls, next batsman Meg Lanning came to bat, handled the inning and finish the inning with Elyse Villani, Meg Lanning played an unbeaten inning of 23 runs in 17 balls, and Elyse Villani played a brilliant unbeaten quick half-century inning of 54 runs with the help of 1 six and 5 boundaries in just 31 balls. It's good that women Cricketers are getting equal opportunity to play like men thru such leagues and I hope these kind of leagues including Hundred tournament encourages BCCI to start IPL for women too.

Happy that, BCCI allowed India women to play in WBBL and the result was apparent as they were on par with Australian women in the conncluded series.
