The 3rd ODI Match of the Afghanistan tour of Sri Lanka, 2023 was played today at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota. In which Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets to seal the series by 2-1.
Afghanistan batted first after inning the toss, started the inning very poorly, the entire team dismissed just for 116 runs in just second ball of the 23th over, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran came to start the inning, the first wicet has dismissed just for 13 runs in last ball of the 2nd over, next batsman Rahmat Shah came to bat and he dismissed just for 7 runs in 11 balls as second wicket in 4.3 over, the team score was 27 runs, next batsman Hashmatullah Shahidi came to bat and he dismissed just for 4 runs in 3 balls as third wicket in last ball of the 5th over, the team score was 31 runs, followed by Mohammad Nabi came to bat and played well with Ibrahim Zadran, the fourth wicket has dismissed for 48 runs in 8.4 over, Ibrahim Zadran dismissed after scroing 22 runs in 21 balls, next batsman Najibullah Zadran came to bat and good strike for a while with Mohammad Nabi, the fifth wicket has dismissed for 72 runs in 12.4 over, Najibullah Zadran dismissed for 10 runs in 13 balls, next batsman Gulbadin Naib came to bat, meanwhile the sixth wicket also dismissed for 77 runs in first ball of the 15th over, Mohammad Nabi dismissed after scoring 23 runs with the help of 2 boundiares in just 23 balls, next batsman Rashid Khan came to bat and he was dismissed just for 2 runs in 8 balls as seventh wicket in 15.4 over, the team score was 80 runs, followed by Mujeeb Ur Rahman came to bat and he was dismissed without scoring in 4 balls as 8th wicket in 17.2 over, the team score was 92 runs, next batsman Fazalhaq Farooqi came to bat, after a moments the 9th wicket also dismissed for 103 runs in 20.4 over, Gulbadin Naib dismissed after scoring 20 runs with the help of 4 boundaries in just 21 balls, next batsman Fareed Ahmad came to bat, after a moments the 10th and final wicket also dismissed for 116 runs in 22.2 over, Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed for 4 runs in 15 balls, and Fareed Ahmad remians unbeaten for 13 runs in 17 balls. In this way, continuously wickets failed one after another, and end of the result the entire team was all out just for 116 runs in 22.2 overs and set a small target of 117 runs in front of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan bowlers performed very brilliant bowling, Dushmantha Chameera took 4 wickets just for 63 runs in 9 overs, Wanindu Hasaranga 3 wickets just for 7 runs in 4.2 overs, Lahiru Kumara 2 wickets just for 29 runs in 5 overs, and Maheesh Theekshana 1 wicket for 16 runs in 4 overs.
Sri Lanka chasing 117 runs in the second inning, achieved the target very easily by losing just 1 wicket in just 16 overs. Afghanistani bowler Gulbadin Naib got 1 wicket for 19 runs in 2 overs.
Sri Lankan blower Dushmantha Chameera was selected as the best player of the match and the series, he performed very brilliant bowling and took 4 wickets just for 63 runs in 9 overs.
