Pandemia and I; How things have Changed

I picked up a bottle of hand sanitizer and my response was a smile. I couldn't hold the smile back as I realised how much times have changed.

There was a time around here when no citizen could walk around freely without a hand sanitizer. If you opened any ladies bag or any gentleman's briefcase, you'd see a bottle of hand sanitizer waving at you.

Prices of hand sanitizer and nose masks had skyrocketed. Sellers of these products took the opportunity to loot the citizens because these products became necessary amenities. As I analysed the whole scenario, I remember how my economics teacher used to say that prices of goods will shoot up if there is a constant and vigorous need for a product. She didn't lie after all.

People from my area never fail to amaze me. As the prices skyrocketed, they came up with so many alternatives. People started making their own hand sanitizers with ingredients that were very unthinkable. You see things like salt, water, Dettol, ginger, garlic, tumeric, and whatnot all in one bottle.

Jokes were made out of the whole action because even if the virus didn't want to follow you, you would be drawing it closer to yourself with all those mixtures. How can I forget the nose mask trend? Medical personnels advised the citizens to use a medical nose mask to help curb the virus faster but guess what?!! Citizens of my great country gave deaf ears to that advice.

They made their own nose masks of course. Like I said, it became a trend because the nose masks always matched with their outfits. They always came out especially on Sundays looking so radiant with their matching outfits.

I don't blame them because the whole thing happened just so fast. One day we're living freely and the next day you're caging us with choking nose masks that we basically knew nothing about.

I on the other hand wasn't really bothered about these things. Movements were restricted and so I stayed at home. I wouldn't get infected except the virus was knocking on people's room doors. I never liked and still don't like using hand sanitizers. I don't mean to be rude but the few times I used hand sanitizers, my hands never remained the same. I thought hand sanitizers were supposed to give you a good feeling, well the majority of the ones I used made my hand feel even more dirty. I always preferred to wash my hands in public, formal settings to avoid feeling uncomfortable.

The best part was the fact that I found 'Hive' and life was made easier. Why would I want to go anywhere when I had all I wanted here on my mobile device.

Pexel

It came and it has gone but things would never remain the same. You can't count the number of lives that were taken, the number of unemployed people, the number of school dropouts, the number of people that starved to death due to restricted movements, the number of medical personnels that lost their lives trying to save others! Ayaya! To mention but a few.

It would always be encrypted in our hearts and in our minds. How much things have changed. We are grateful for life and we keep moving.

With love, wongi ✨
