My banking experience, elation

So I woke up one morning feeling like I needed a bank account. I spoke to my mom about it but she kept procrastinating. Eventually, I gathered up some cash and sweet talked my sister into escorting me to the bank which of course came with a price. We got prepared and set a location to meet at. I got to the location and we moved to the bank. It was a Tuesday and so the bank was not so crowded. When we got to the bank I put on my face mask and followed the procedure. I was so excited. We got into the bank, the air conditioning system was mad!. The breeze was just flowing. We met a lady and told her we wanted to open an account. She started with compliments like, I love your hair, you look so fine, blah. I wasn't so interested because all the compliments went to my elder sister's end. I just sat there, grinning, no one could take away my smile .lol.

She brought out a form which I was supposed to fill. I filled the form and all the procedures were carried out. It was time to put the money into the new account. Shoot! I forgot the money at home. No! No! No!. My countenance changed. I whispered my plight into my sister's ears and she was caught between laughing at me and scolding me. She just sighed. Good thing was that she had some cash in her and so it wasn't much of a problem. She deposited the money she had on her and I promised to transfer it for her as soon as I got home. I was talking money language, feeling fly. I got home and I did the needful.

I went back to the bank after a week to request for an ATM card. I met the woman again, honestly, she was very helpful, she told me how to go about it and I obeyed. I had another engagement by 12p.m which I didn't want to miss and so deep I was just praying. I got to the bank around 9:30a.m and my process was going smoothly. The line wasn't too long and so I waited. 11am I was in the final phase of the procedure. I got the card and finalized everything. I was so happy, an ATM card owner. I decided to test my card and withdraw some money. I swiped my card, went about the process and I stood there counting the money like a typical Nigerian and forgot to eject my card. The ATM 'swallowed' the card.

I went back into the bank with shame flooding me. I told them what happened and the security man with whom I had a conversation while I was waiting to get my card laughed heartily. I was asked to sit and wait. I did just that. 11:30, 12:00, 12:10. I stood up and left the bank. I hurried to my point of engagement and I was late. By the time I arrived, they were about to close. I got in, got some signatures and went back to the bank. Transportation fee wasted. I was pained.
I arrived at the bank again and sat down. I kept this face of 'y'all are incompetent. I've been waiting for ages' the security personnel couldn't help but notice and he went and hastened the whole process up. I got my card and got scolded too. The lady that helped me gave me a lecture in front of everyone. I was so embarrassed but all I could do was smile. I thanked her for the lecture and left the bank. I felt partly fulfilled. I got the card but I didn't get all the required signatures. Lesson learnt; don't forget to eject your ATM card before counting your cash, my country is just a funny one. Lol.
