Best Speech Day Ever😇✨

This is me seated in church and writing a content after I almost had a nervous breakdown. Today was a big day for me in church and I totally loved the way I handled it.

During the week, I was called upon to serve in church. This service required me to climb the stage and sit there for about 5 minutes sharing my personal story. A story that relates to the topic of the service which was seeing opportunities in challenges

After the call, I sat and reminisced on all the possible experiences I could share, and I found the perfect one. Honestly, I didn't really practice how I'd speak on stage till it dawned on me yesterday that I had a speech to give. You needed to see me yesterday 😂. I was walking up and down, repeating speeches, making mistakes and trying again.

The tailor told me that the dress I was supposed to wear on Sunday wasn't ready, now that was a major issue. I had to look very responsible and I had really exhausted all my options. See me digging into my wardrobe to find the perfect clothes but to no avail. I realized that I had either grown out of my clothes or the clothes didn't look very formal.

A view of the purple dress

After scavenging I finally settled for a purple lace dress. Then the next phase began. I was practicing how to hold a mic and talk. I realized that I was saying a lot of uhmms; "and uhmm the man said that I should go there and I uhmmm" too much umms for a formal speech😂 I had to work on that too.

I rehearsed because I didn't wanted to prove that "proper preparation prevents poor performance"After the rehearsal and everything, I was supposed to sleep early in order to wake early and prepare but as usual, I slept quite late. I woke up earlier than normal today, prepared and set out for church.

On arriving the backstage, I realized I was an hour earlier than the officiating priest. I was telling myself that, " I can do this. This is your story after all". When the officiating priest came, he gave a run down of everything and put us on the right track. The tension began.

I was still a little bit jittery but a friend came along and that was the perfect tension relief. We got talking and laughing, I almost forgot where I was. When it was time for me to speak, I was called upon.

I went on stage and performed perfectly. I was prompt and concise, not forgetting that my speech was timed. After the speech, I got an encouraging round of applause from the audience. It was amazing! The smiles on their faces was enough to keep me happy for a year.

I went backstage and they were all thanking me, ' you did great' they saida. It was all so beautiful. Once again I realized that I didn't really have stage fright anymore. One minute I was nervous and the second minute I was talking to a large audience with so much confidence.

I'm really grateful to the master for this experience. Everything went very well. MTBB.

With love, wongi ✨

I'm so happy for you. I can imagine being in the same situation and I know how frightening it can be, so it's so nice that you nailed.
Cheers to more wins.💮🥂
