How Do We Feel After The Earthquake Disaster? [ENG-TUR]

February 6, 2023 has been a milestone for us and our country. We started the day like a nightmare. As a country, we have all been deeply affected by this disaster and its impact still is ongoing. The situation of earthquake victims is worse. Lack of basic needs for them continues. I hope that these needs will be met in a short time with both financial and in-kind donations. I think that everyone who has a mind and conscience will do the accounting for some of the things we witnessed after the earthquake.

6 Şubat 2023 tarihi bizler ve ülkemiz için bir milat oldu. Kabus gibi bir güne başlamıştık. Hepimiz ülke olarak bu felaketten çok derinden etkilendik ve etkisi de halen devam ediyor. Depremzedelerin durumunu daha kötü. Onların temel ihtiyaçları konusunda eksiklikleri devam ediyor. Umarım toplanan gerek maddi gerekse ayni yardımlar ile bu ihtiyaçları kısa sürede karşılanır. Deprem sonrası tanık olduğumuz bazı şeylerin muhasebesini de akıl ve vicdan sahibi herkesin yapacağını düşünüyorum.

On the other hand, we remembered once again that our country is in an earthquake zone. Particularly, people living in metropolitans close to the fault lines, like me, are afraid of earthquakes. If we talk about Istanbul, an earthquake of around 7.5 is expected to happen in Istanbul in the near future. Considering the quality and the way of constructions of metropolitan cities such as Istanbul, it is certain that there will be much more destruction than the Kahramanmaraş earthquake if measures are not taken. Taking measures such as rebuilding and reinforcement of the houses require a significant economic potential. It is not possible for people to do this alone in this economic crisis. Moving to another house is not easy for both householders and renters. Before the earthquake, housing and rental prices were already very high, I can say that the prices have already increased by 25%.

Diğer taraftan, ülkemizin deprem kuşağında olan bir ülke olduğunu tekrar hatırladık. Özellikle benim gibi fay hattına yakın büyü şehirlerde yaşayan insanları deprem korkusu sardı. İstanbul’u ele alırsak yakın zamanda İstanbul’da 7.5 civarında bir deprem bekleniyor. İstanbul gibi büyükşehirlerin yapılaşma düzeni ve yapı kalitesini düşündüğümüzde, önlem alınmazsa Kahramanmaraş depreminden daha fazla bir yıkımın olacağı kesin. Evlerin yeniden inşaası ve güçlendirme gibi önlemleri almak önemli bir ekonomik güç istiyor. İnsanların bunu tek başına yapmaları bu ekonomik krizde pek mümkün değil. Gerek ev sahibi gerek kiracı olanlar için ev değiştirmek çok da kolay değil. Deprem öncesinde zaten ev ve kiralık ev fiyatları çok yükselmişti, fiyatların bu günlerde %25 daha arttı diyebilirim.

Therefore, many people including me have began to wonder whether we will experience similar things, whether the houses we live in will be collapsed. We have a gloomy look, our morale is low, we can't sleep at some nights, some of us even have nightmares. Particularly when you read or watch something about the earthquake before going to bed, the probability of having dream about the earthquake increases. Adding the election process to this situation, there is complete uncertainty. People are reluctant to plan and do anything. Earthquake is always in the back of our minds. I think it will be like this in the future, as it should be, because our country is located in an earthquake zone.

Dolayısıyla ben dahil birçok insan acaba biz de benzer şeyleri yaşayacak mıyız, oturduğum ev yıkılacak mı diye düşünmeye başladı. Yüzümüz asık, moralimiz düşük, bazı geceler uyuyamıyoruz, hatta kabus görenlerimiz var. Özellikle yatmadan önce depremle ilgili bir şey okuduğunda ya da bir video izlendiğinde, rüyada depremle ilgili bir şey görme olasılığı artıyor. Seçim sürecini de dahil edersek ortada tam anlamıyla bir belirsizlik var. İnsanlar birşey planlayıp yapmak istemiyorlar. Deprem hep aklımızın bir köşesinde. Bundan sonra da böyle olacak galiba, ki bence olsun çünkü ülkemiz deprem kuşağında bulunuyor.

As for HIVE, the earthquake has affected the TR Community in a negative way as well. I see some friends have stopped posting and some have started to Power Down. Support for posts has also lessened. We will see whether the old atmosphere and supports will be again in the TR Community. I don't know if those members who left will come back, but it's good to take a break. I am here for now. HIVE’a gelince, bu deprem TR Topluluğunu da çok etkiledi. Bazı arkadaşların yazmayı bıraktığını, bazılarının ise Power Down yapmaya başladığını görüyorum. Yazılara verilen destek de azaldı.
