RE: Fun on the roof!

Oh, excellent! Yes, dedicated servers are a very good thing indeed. As to electricity, since we're off-grid, we have no electrical costs, though I would need a good machine. Thankfully our internet has been quite fast and stable lately. I acquired another laptop, that is actually a lot better than the one that I just bought, so I have a space machine now, on which I've been experimenting with FreeBSD, though I still can't get xorg to work properly, so no UI yet. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

UI? What's a UI?? :-D lol
Just kidding :-) The fun UI's are one of the many things I love about Linux (ever used Enlightenment? I loved it! Created a lot of themepacks for that one (and others) as well!).
Glad to hear you have a spare one now, that's definitely going to help!
And off grid... Well, I'm trying to go as "off" as possible, within the boundaries of a rented house, not owned (so can't put the whole roof full of solar panels). But funny enough, going off grid is illegal in Belgium. Just like it is to collect rain water...
Indeed!

Hahaha...I can get around pretty well only via the command line, but yeah, I like pretty UIs. I know about it, but I haven't tried it myself yet. I've heard a lot about tiling window managers. Holy moly, and this new computer came to me in the most unbelievable manner. It was abandoned in a bag at the end of our jungle road, half hidden in amount the trees. Thank goodness it was found before it rained. And dude, it is so much better then the one that I spent a whole bunch of money to buy. So I made it my daily driver, and the one I bought is now a backup, and for experimenting.

Yeah, the most tyrannical governments do that sort of thing all the time, making it 'illegal' to go off grid, or collect rain water, which of course they have zero right to do, but sadly most people don't know that. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Yeah, same here, I always have at least a few terminals open, but if possible, I like to use them in a nice and fancy UI :-)
Damn man, that was luck with that laptop! And so happy for you! Well deserved!

Ditto that, exactly, a terminal (with transparency) with multiple tabs open, in a sweet UI! Tell me about it, I still can't even believe how it happened! Most laptops are crap, which is why it takes me so long to find a truly good one, and then this one just pops up in the middle of the jungle, and it's bloody perfect! Thank you, brother, I truly deeply appreciate that! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Oh!!! Transparancy of terminal windows is almost non-negotiable!!!
I do say almost, as I am now using a Terminal app that syncs with my iPhone, so I can admin the servers "on-the-go" if needed. However... no matter how dramatical that is... it has no transparancy option...
