Why Renting Cards On Splinterlands Is Great For New Players

Hi Everyone,

As we see an influx of new players joining Splinterlands, new players are often confused what to use for their battles. Back in the days before the game boomed, cards were affordable and players can get them for a nice price. Now as the market has limited cards and everyone trying to get their hands on them, the best way to see which splinter or cards is right for you is by renting. I often get this question when helping out on Telegram which splinter or cards should they buy or save up for. With the rental market now readily available with most cards ready to be rented, I suggest to rent at least 2 splinters at a time and the relevant cards for those teams and test it out. Remember to get some neutral cards as they are compatible for all splinters, kill 2 birds on one stone.

The rental market is booming with currently a $59k of rentals every day and this amount is growing as more players join us. There are cards in all sorts of levels with a huge different with price range. At the minimum at the the time of writing, the cheapest level 1 summoner for rent is 0.0008c per day! This summoner is the Drake of Arnak which adds a shield for their team. At level 2, it jumps up to 9.95DEC per day which is around 7c to rent a level 2 summoner for a day. Not and considering if you want to try out a card for a few days. Of course if you want to give it your best shot and want to rent a max level, it will be 275DEC a day at the cheapest which is approx $2 a day. These rental prices are ddefinitelyway cheaper than buying the cards first off the bat and what is more, if you feel like this splinter isn't right for you, you can rent another one and try again.

It does take a bit of work seeing what is best for what you have. Rental prices does vary depending on each level of cards and rarity . At the time of writing, the Llama card is renting at $3.92 per day at level 1 but that is one of the most popular level 1 legendary summoner. For a small price and being able to try a card that is worth hundreds on the market, even if you have the money to buy the card, you want to try it to see if you really like the ability on what it can give you. Another example was the Archmage Arius, I've been lucky enough to use this card for a few weeks last year and for me, its a great card but I don't have some of the better cards (at the time) to compliment it and use it at its fullest potential so I decided this may not be the card for me and also considering the sale price at the time. Use the same concept for the monsters, rent what you like and give it a go once you have your heart set on a summoner.

Splinterlands is a game with so many possibilities. The large number of cards at different levels and abilities makes it extra amazing therefore you need to plan your teams strategically. Committing to buying a team isn't cheap so for new players this is the best way I would recommend finding what is right for you. Of course renting also allows established players to rent a few cards they may want to use during the season to give them the extra edge to move up the ladder. The rental market has been a hit since it has been introduced and I can see the rental market explode further once we have more players and the introduction of SPS being awarded for each winning game. Good luck finding your team, it is not easy but once you get it right, you can sit back and enjoy your battles .

If you haven't joined Splinterlands, you can join here. See you on the battlefield!

Buying colourful digital pixels is foolish and pointless... renting them is even dumber :D

Everyone has their own thoughts for online games and cards so I guess it is best to let people do their research and decide. I don't call anyone dumb for renting or buying "digital pixels" as you put it, just like I don't call the guy down the road dumb for buying a real collectable leaving it at home or a new car. Everyone's scale, values and priorities are different.

Nice post!!
I have not rented any cards yet, but will surely consider it in future. I do however rent out quite a few card, which gives a nice income, to be used later to purchase other cards.

If you have extra, its great to rent some out but if you are lacking with cards, rent them and move up the rank. I still rent cards once in a while to give me the extra advantage cos i'm lacking in some of the newer cards

Renting cards is the only reasonable way to try out Splinterlands for the first time... it's really good that all that stuff is built into the interface of the game now. I remember the month before the game got so popular, renting was sooooo cheap then

Ohhhh renting before was too good tbh, but i guess things have to change when we see so many new players with limited cards.

Drake of Arnak is very useful, especially when the rules only allow "close attacks"!
