Trying To Stay Healthy & Look After Myself

Hi Everyone,

For the past few months, I have noticed that I haven't been really eating a proper lunch at home especially in between work and doing my usual daily chores. I would have breakfast and then go about doing my usual stuff and then only to remember I need to have lunch when I'm extremely hungry. I've been doing this for many months but recently I thought maybe its time for a change. I need to take a proper lunch and break away from the computer or house chores. Especially the last 4-6 weeks, I'm back doing more work hours during the day, I really need to not only eat meals properly but have enough exercise and stretches in between meetings or a long seating. The aim of my meals doesn't have to be luxury food but enough to fill me up and if possible a bit of variety. I've been buying lots of different food from our supermarket orders to make sure I don't give myself any excuses.

These are only a few examples of the food I have for breakfast. From a healthy salad with fruit to some random marinated chicken feet I made the night before with a cup of green tea. Sometimes I still have food like cup noodles but its like on rare occasions as cup noodles could still be a nice meal. Quick meals also includes ham and cheese toast which is easy to make and enough to fill you up. I also get sashimi delivered from the fish market so those days are like a special treat.

Drink wise, I try to have a cup of tea or a juice. I always drink tea but depending if it was a busy day and I need more mild caffeine, I would still have a cup at lunch to keep me going for the rest of the day. A few days a week I have soup which my mother in law or mum brings over and I would have that over a lunch meal too. I love soups so I don't mind having soup every day if it wasn't so much work to make. Eat well is the first step. The next step will be doing some light exercise and get my body moving again. I've been a blob and have been stuck to my chair, sofa or floor so I need to get off my butt and start doing some exercise or I will regret it when I'm order.

I feel you when I'm working, time goes by and I end up having lunch very late, only around the time my mother brings me food, I focus so much on my things that I forget that I have to prepare something quick to eat. I'm glad you're making an effort to eat well and move with your body 😀, spending so much time sitting down is difficult

More so than breakfast as someone told me recently, not sure how true that is cos we grew up as breakfast being the most important meal of the day

WOW,.. that is good, healthy food!
I've always wanted to learn how to cook the chicken feet,
like the one they serve in dim sum houses.
Do you happen to know how?

I dunno how to make the ones at yum cha cos Dad told me that you need to fry it first then steam it, too much trouble. What I do with mine is cook the chicken feet (nails or cut off) with a marinated sauce for like 1hr. I use a cast iron pot and close the heat, and let it cook for a bit with the heat from the cast iron. Let it cool and leave it in the fridge overnight. Take it out the next day and then reboil it and cook another 15mins or and that way the sauce is fully baked in and the feet is soft enough but doesn't crumble into pieces LOL.
