Travelgirl's TV Show Review - Love with the Gap (阿女又戀嚟)

Hi Everyone,

Being in a lockdown means not only stuck with homeschooling with kids, I have watched a lot more TV shows. I tend to find shows that doesn't need much thinking and can give me some degree of entertainment of a laugh so I can get away from my usual world for that 1 episode. Recently I came across a show called 'Love with the Gap' produced by ViuTV a TV station in Hong Kong. They have been making some really great shows and I have watching a few of them recently. This is a reality show where 4 single girls get to go out with two guys - one chosen by their parents and one is chosen by themselves. The aim of this show is pretty interesting as as a female, I would always think that I would prefer to choose my partner but via this show, it can really show that your parents sometimes know us well enough and can through certain traits to determine which guy might be better.

The first episode we will see parents go through a range of photos of different guys with their age, occupation, how long they have been single etc. Once they chose a few, they get to 'interview' the guys and ask a series of questions and then determine which one is more situable for their daughter to continue on with the show. Then the girls would come on and chose a few pictures also but this time they get to interview the guys with their backs to them so they can only hear their voices. The funny part was one couple actually knew each other a few years back through work and the show producers said they didn't know of those details when the guy auditioned. It was pretty interesting on the questions the girls asked, honestly it's pointless to ask any serious questions at this stage. Some didn't know what to ask each other so they wasted valuable time.

Once the two guys have been picked (one by the parents and one by the constants), they go on series of dates and get to know family/life outings which was pretty interesting. Interesting in the sense that all dates were very similar to each other and that the ones chosen by the parents are coming out on top. While watching the show, I wonder how my parents were thinking when I took my hubby back to see them for the first time. Mum did say to me that she had a really good feeling about my hubby when they first met because he was being himself, didn't try to make himself up to impress anyone. Dad didn't really mind as long as I was happy and he wasn't doing anything illegal and that was it. We are in the final stages of the show and the girls will have to pick their favourite guy from the two they have spent time with over a few weeks. If you want to find a show with short episodes (around 20 minutes each) and something that takes your mind off other things, this show is great providing a good laugh and those sweet moments.
