Making A Curtin For My Bookshelf
Hi Everyone,
A small project I have completed these two days. I have two small Ikea billy bookcase but I find no matter how much I clean, there is a lot of dust. Maybe we just live in a dusty area but this also increases the frequency for my cleaning so I have to find some ways to improve my days of tidying up. Unfortunately I checked by the billy bookcase doesn't come with the door extension which I could get from Ikea so I searched online and like the ideas I see from Japanese housewives where they make curtains to cover small areas or bookcases. So I headed to Daiso and bought what I thought was needed enough to make for one bookshelf first.
I got a curtain bar which looks like a chin up bar, some pole ring and ring combo and materials for curtains. Daiso prices have gone up so all items here are $3.10 plus GST which isn't cheap if add everything together. None the less, it is an alternative to getting a new bookshelf so I have it a try. The bookshelf is over 1m long so there was only a black rod available which is perfect as my bookshelf is black. The weight it could take is 1kg so that isn't an issue as the material wouldn't be too heavy either.
Next I just chose a very simple hook as I wasn't sure if it will suit the bookshelf. It actually fitted well, in fact, I rather get ones with a smaller ring so it doesn't leave a huge gap between the rod and the material so I probably go back and get pack with a smaller hook. The material was very simple but I like the pattern. I just had to get one of the clips on and hook it onto the bar and its done. Unfortunately I had to use both fabric as 1 wasn't enough width wise but luckily, length was perfect. Now at least it looks neat and somewhat hiding the mess we have underneath. I hope this will also reduce the dusk going through so I don't have to clean my cupboards all the time. Now I need to go to Diaso to get another set for the other bookshelf and I'll be set.

But then you'll have to wash that curtain, isn't it more work ? 😬
How neat!!!
I like Daiso.
The last time I was in one was in San Francisco!
Ah that's a good idea to combat dust! I did a curtain on the cubby shelf where most of my books are too, but I did it to make the space seem less cluttered rather than thinking about dust. I used my Earth flag for mine, because it was the perfect size and I wanted to display it anyway:
What's behind it, lol:
