Hi Everyone,

I’ve never looked into op shops until the last year or so, one of our friends got us into op shopping as we started buying lots of books during the lockdown period in Australia. Our friends who love op shopping said that there are many books at these stores for a fraction of the price, normally pretty new and all proceeds go to the charity so since then, we have started buying books from these op shops. We do find some books we intend to buy online or at the shops but if we do really want something, we still get them brand new especially some of the books hubby likes to read.

Around once a month, we would go op shopping with our friends and make a day out for the adults. The kids are usually with their grandparents so they don’t come and bother us when we take time to visit each store. This time round, my main focus is finding recent editions of kids books but they need to be near new or brand new. BB E has been asking to get the Wings of Fire series and the main bookstores sells them for around $16 each so I’m hoping to find a new copy for a fraction of that price and also help the charities.

We went around the Northern Beaches this time round and found some gems. Lots of cool books for the kids but some we couldn’t find so we will get them from the shops after they finish reading them. I was pretty happy to find a copy of the Wings of Fire, although not new it was in ok condition so I still got it.

Random things you see at these stores like old basketball toys from the 70s, super old sewing machines, and typewriters. All have a bit of history and things people used to value. Our friends always say someone’s trash could be another’s treasure. As usual, fun day out, with lots of buys, and the best part, help these organisations with our purchases for those in need.

Enid Blyton was a very good children's book writer. I see at least one book from her on the photos (The River of Adventure). If you have a child/children, then I would gladly recommend her books. He/she/they will enjoy it very much.

Enid Blyton was one of my fav author when I was young. My teacher introduced her books to us and I was hooked. Maybe I should find my old books and write a post about it. I have got my kids hooked to these books too and getting it for $1 and a brand new book is a bargain.
