Kids Are Returning To School .... In October

avatar

Hi Everyone,

Homeschooling have pretty much taken all my energy the last two months and my kid is dreading each Monday now which isn't a good sign. Luckily his school is trying to change things up a bit and have more different zoom activities, reading groups, and we try to organise some zoom session with his friends during break times. As Sydney Covid cases are now in the 1000s, the situation is not great but we have to live with it. The government have finally given a roadmap when students can return back to school - Kindy and year 1 will return end of October. The other years will be early November. It is still 2 months away but something for the kids to look forward to. The school also have given us an update that they are excited to have everyone back onto the school grounds so I guess everyone is somewhat excited.

The moment that announcement came on the news, most of my mummy groups on Whatsapp became alive again all cheering there is a date to work on. I have been reminding my friends that if all goes smoothly and nothing out of the ordinary comes up, then it is all good but anything goes out of track, we are back in lockdown. I guess I have my work thinking cap on, trying to look for all possibilites that can go wrong to avoid any disappointments. Another date we are working towards is end of September, for those who don't live in the areas of concern can now meet friends outdoors provided they are all vaccinated. I know the vaccination topic is hot but it is something to work on, something to look forward to. We have plans to see if any of Baby E's friends will be able to catch up for a picnic outdoor so that way , the kids can have somewhat an interaction which they didn't get to have for at least 3 months.

I thought I was a hermit, I don't mind staying at home all the time but at some point, it is getting too much especially having to homeschooling and doing the usual day stuff. You are burnt out mentally, you might find another side of you like I have which is loving to go outside than staying in, seeing my kids upset about what I thought was small things like not being with their friends really annoys me. I'm kind of glad Baby M still goes to daycare so he get some sort of normality but for the older one, he is feeling it. He tells me he love staying home and spending more time with us, but he still misses his usual life. We now try to spin it in a way that this is just temporary and the valuable time we spend together having lunch, making fun of each other are moments we need to treasure.

Yeah, they started middle of August!
I know because traffic starts to build-up at the high school near my home.
Thus I have to leave the house earlier by a few minutes... there goes my Hive time, hehehe.
Have a great Sunday, @travelgirl👍😘😍

Hmm, I don't think it's a great idea to let your children back to school on October...

Govt have forecast that by Mid October, we have 80% people vaccinated and that is when we should be somehow getting some restrictions lifted so I guess thats where they got that date in. We will definitely monitor to see how the situation is by then
