Hi Everyone,

When I grew up, we didn't have tiled floors even in the kitchen so I didn't know there was a way to clean out the grout. When we moved into this place, I already tried to do a clean but whatever I used, it just didn't make a dent or difference. Hubby said maybe its just how it was when the place was built so I left it knowing I've tried my best. Then one day, I was on IG and a video of someone cleaning their grout came up suddenly. I've been obsessed with organising things at home so maybe the feed thought I might go into cleaning later on? So after I saw the video, I went to the hardware shop to get the special spray and brush. According to the guy at Bunnings (Australia's largest hardware shop), the brush is a life saver. I waited till all the kids were at school and started on a corner.

After leaving it to soak for 15 minutes, I started to scrub. It was hard work! It was harder than it looked. So after trying out a few tiles I continued on a few more and that already took 30 minutes and a whole lot of energy. The whole kitchen took around 4 days in total as I didn't want to 'overwork' it or else I'll be too tired to do all the other house work for the week. I suspect the previous owners have never cleaned it all their time here as each gap had so much crap coming out and literally the gunk that came out was black. The paper towels I used to wipe the left over liquid was all black. That chemical was definately strong as it got most of it out. There were a bit which I couldn't get out as much as I liked especially near the stove area as I believe the oil and dirty have been there for so long.

I thought wiping the floor regularly was enough but I guess it is not after seeing what I cleaned out. Now I'm moving onto the front door area and that would be another week I predict and slowly moving it to the bathroom though it's pretty clean there as I could see, no black marks at all. I wish I saw that video earlier and cleaned that crap out because the thought of us walking on it was just disgusting. Now it is all clean and even the kids can see a huge difference. I guess we all learn something new each day and in my case, grout cleaning. The last two photos shows you the before and after results.

Bleaching agents and a good grout brush does the trick...
And a lot of elbow grease!!!

You are right about the elbow grease!!! My arm was sore after a few tiles hence why it took a week to do the whole kitchen. Had to kneel down and just scrubbed hahahaha.
