Food Sharing #247 - Chapter & Verse @ Surfers Paradise, Australia

Hi Everyone,

During our visit to Surfers Paradise over Christmas & New Year period, we have been to a nice little lounge. Due to COVID and with many industry short on staff as they need to isolate, we found this lounge had enough staff to cater for our hungry family. There was still a wait for our meals but the staff was doing their best to keep everything running smoothly and we are glad to be able to try this place out.

Let’s check out the menu. The menu wasn’t huge but enough for us to chose a simple lunch. We noticed the gluten free option was very limited, less than what we normally would have in Sydney. We ordered a kids fish and chips, chicken little, yellowtail kingfish ceviche and a soy milk latte. We were a little disappointed the pizzas didn’t have a gluten free base so Baby E could have some of them.

First comes the coffee. Great coffee according to hubby. Then our food came after a bit of a wait. The kids fish and chips and nuggets meal were pretty generous size. They ate is very quickly as both of them were pretty hungry after a big day at the pool and they even had some salad which was good. Both the fish and chicken was fried well and was not overcooked at all. Big thumbs up from the kids. My ceviche was very delicious, I probably could eat two serves of them. The portion was pretty big with the fish being very fresh.

Service was slightly slow due to staff shortage but they try their best to keep up with everything which was understandable given the situation. The setting was comfortable and had some great music. It was a nice little lunch and would also be a nice place for high tea but unfortunately we didn’t get it try it due to COVID staff shortage.

Is that the price list? The garlic pizza is $24 AUD (5454 HUF)?
We can buy a San Marzano pizza in Hungary for around 2000 HUF ($8.80 AUD). Of course we have very huge income differences.

Yah pretty crazy for a garlic pizza which is why we ordered the kids meals for the kiddies cos it was cheaper. Gosh we miss the yummy pizzas in Hungary !!

FYI this cafe is a bit more expensive than the usual ones even for our income rates, good to try once in awhile
