First Parent Teacher Interview in 2021

Hi Everyone,

We recently had our first parent teacher interview for Baby E at his school. We were worried it won't happen this year due to COVID restrictions but luckily things aren't too bad in Sydney we can now go inside the school to have them done. This year Baby E has 2 teachers - both part time teachers. He knows of the teacher from last year but a new teacher joined the year 1 team and didn't know of this teacher until he arrived in his new class. Nearly end of Term 1, I wonder what they will share with us about our kids. I don't have much expectations considering Baby E is only in year 1 but I hope he does keep up and not fall under the "troublemaker" category.

I've met the new teacher before so it was nice to see her again. Baby E was in the interview with us as they want to encourage the child to have their input but also hear what they are good at and what can be improved. Every time I see his teacher, the first thing she would say are his manners. He has the best manners in the class and would always say please and thank you appropriately and the teacher loved the way how polite he was. She did remind him that being too nice can have its disadvantage so if anyone is mean to him, he needs to tell a teacher straight away at school. Baby E also listens well in class and definately doesn't fall under the ''wiggle boys group according to the teacher. He also gets along with lots of kids (he is pretty social) so I am not worried he won't have any friends and I've met many of them and they are really nice kids so I'm thankful for that.

Academic wise, the teacher was not worried or fuss as he is keeping up and in some instances excelled in a few topics. He is one of the youngest in the class, in fact the grade but the teacher said she wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't told her as he is doing very well for this age if that is the case. He can write some pretty simple story on paper and has great writing structure. His maths is above average and is a fast learner. Baby E also shows some leadership skills which would be good if he uses his skills properly. I'm actually proud of his achievement so far as I can see he has excelled greatly in his weekly home readers and can read some difficult books. I am very happy with his progress so far this year and as Term 1 is coming to an end soon, I will hope that he continues to do well for the rest of the year.

I will leave you a short story he wrote during his first week of school. It took me a while to get what it was about but hopefully you can decode it like I have. PS His spelling is ALOT better now so nothing to worry about.
