Action Steps Towards My Personal Development: One Book per Month Challenge
One of the greatest thing to do in life is focusing on one's self-improvement. Self-improvement entails bettering and developing one's self. It also has to do building value. Self-improvement is very important because if you do not improve yourself, your skillset, your talents and gifts regularly, you will certainly tend to lose value and you will be irrelevant to yourself and to the society at large.
There are several ways to achieving self-improvement and one of such ways is reading books written by seasoned authors. Also, reading the books isn't just enough, you have to practice and take action steps based on the concepts as well as teachings in the books. I noticed that there are areas in my life that needs improvement and I equally noticed that I have been slacking in doing a lot profitable things due to certain pressures of life. For this reason, I decided to work on improving in these things.
This prompted me to get one of Brian Tracy's book which is titled: The Power of Self-discipline: No Excuses. Why choose the book? It takes discipline to be successful in life and I believe at the end of reading the book or even while reading, I must have imbibed a lot good values as well as gain access to how to stay disciplined inspire of pressures and problems of life.
I'll begin reading the book today and the end of each chapter, I'll do well to pen down the things I have derived and learnt from the chapter. I also plan on reading more and more books to further gather more information and knowledge. It is actually a big book with about 21 Chapters and 293 pages. Being that I don't want to rush the reading of the book, I will be targeting a duration of one month to exhaust the book.
