🧰 Wiring Up the Network — DIY Ethernet Cable Time

Sometimes you’ve just got to get hands-on.
I pulled out an old roll of Cat5e cable from a past job, grabbed a crimper, a pile of RJ45 ends, and a few strain boots, and decided it was time to build the network cables myself.

There’s something satisfying about cutting the exact lengths you need instead of dealing with those overpriced pre-made cords that are always either too short or a tangled mess too long.

I used the standard T568B wiring pattern:

• 🟧 White/Orange
• 🟧 Orange
• 🟩 White/Green
• 🩵 Blue
• 🩵 White/Blue
• 🟩 Green
• 🟤 White/Brown
• 🟤 Brown

Making sure everything stayed flat and clean before sliding the connector on.
A quick crimp, a snug boot on the back, and boom: custom cables ready to go.

This setup’s for the network backbone that runs across my solar-powered rig.
Every device’s connection matters, and keeping the wiring clean and solid helps avoid those random disconnects that can drive you insane later.

Old wire, new life — that’s the best kind of recycling.
